Absolutely stop off to the Meadows of Dan off the Blue Ridge Parkway!! Turning left is the Blue Ridge Motel. (I put photos and a review there). It was 7ish pm when we arrived into the little town and were awe struck at the simplicity and sweetness of the area. Jane's Cafe was closed but the Poor Farmers Market had a delicious sub for supper and the next morning we enjoyed biscuits and gravy with a fried egg and bacon. The staff were so nice and cooked the food while we waited. The atmosphere is laid back and family like. We enjoyed our little bit of time there.

Went for the first time yesterday. Great chicken salad sandwiches. Loved buying cheeses made in NC, corn meal and dried beans. Great desserts too. Super nice staff. The yellow kitty outside made the store even better.

Great experience! This country store has everything you could possibly need, and more. The convenience of its location, right off the main road and near the Blue Ridge Parkway, makes it an easy stop whether you're passing through or a local looking for a great place to grab a bite.

The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The food is truly top-notch—fresh, flavorful, and made to order. Their breakfast, in particular, is a standout, offering delicious options at unbeatable prices. Beyond the food, the store carries a great selection of country-style goods, making it a charming and well-stocked stop for both essentials and unique finds.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cozy, well-run spot with excellent service, fantastic food, and fair prices. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or browsing their selection, you won’t be disappointed!

They get the rare 5 stars from me!

this place is SO cute and has soooo many goodies! they deserve all the business, but there were too many people inside at once and no one knew how to make a line, so it was very disorganized for the cashiers trying to ring people up. we ended up leaving without getting to buy anything because it would have taken an addition 10-20 minutes to check out. 🙁 so if you come here, just be prepared for some wait times. everything looked and smelled delicious tho! (also, if you get gas here, please move when you’re finished getting gas, there are only two pumps and someone stayed parked in-front if one of the pumps without pumping gas. we went across the street to get gas and the car was still parked at the pump when we finished.)

My husband has raved about this place for many years! His Dad and him used to go there a lot while working in the area over 14 years ago just to get the homemade apple pies! He told me that a lady would sit outside in the front in her work area and make them from scratch and they couldn't eat enough of them! Today, we took a ride up on the bike in the mountains and stopped there. We were told the same lady makes the pies and drops off a batch a day and sometimes twice a day. I tried them and WOW! They are delicious!! They were gone fast!! From talking to others that visited, my husband is not the only one who goes there for those pies! I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to meet her but want her to know this family loves the fruits of her labor!!
The staff is very friendly here! The restaurant part, which I ordered a chicken bacon sandwich and my husband ordered hotdogs from, were also delicious!! The warm apple cider was perfect on this cool day to warm me up!
The store has a lot of different things to offer. Everything from beans & jams to skillets & toys!Apples, tomatoes, pumpkins and etc. are being sold outside. This is a True Country Store! Love it! Highly recommend stopping in here!

It's a great stop after visiting Mabry Mill. Lots of neat trinkets, local art and home made foods, such as honey, moonshine jelly, bear jelly, pepper jelly, amish cheeses, and the like. Knives and souvenir t-shirts and other things abound. The store is decorated in a country theme. Neat Native American statues I love from my childhood that are now culturally questionable, but don't let that stop you. The store also has a deli restaurant with outdoor seating. As you can see by the Mr. Bear photo, masks are required or at least encouraged inside during the pandemic. The wife and I had the Poor Farmer's Sandwich, the no.1. We also had a fried apple pie each and they were extremely delicious. I want to come back here just for that. The apple filling was great, but I'm most impressed with the breading, which was like some sort of sweet cake cornbread, crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Reminded me a little of a home made donut, except with apple pie filling. I could eat that without the apple pie filling and that's saying something. Another customer recommended their hotdogs, which I suppose I'll have to try on our next visit.
