I had an amazing experience at McLendon Hardware in White Center, thanks to Chris W. in the Special Order department. He was incredibly patient, kind, and professional—exactly the kind of employee any business would be lucky to have.

Chris took the time to carefully measure every window screen in my house, ensuring everything was done perfectly. He handled every step of the process with care and made the entire experience seamless. His outstanding customer service truly stood out, and I can’t recommend him enough.

Mclendons has things that the big box stores don’t carry. I went there to get a valve stem for a hose bib. Home Depot does not carry these. Great hardware selection for those little bits and bobs and staff is knowledgeable. Plus you’re supporting local.

I always have a great experience here. Patrick helped me re-key 4 doorknobs and 4 deadbolts, even fixing the ones I really messed up trying to re-key myself with a DIY kit. The garden center is great in the spring and summer too.

This is an awesome store, with a lot of cool stuff. Came here before Christmas and it was stocked with lights, Christmas villages and decorations. The people are extremely helpful. This store is one of the best organized places I have seen.

The screen in our bedroom window had a dent in the frame so we took it to McLendon’s to get a new one made.

My husband left our screen with them so that they could use it for measurements and reference, assuming we would get it back. When they called us several days later saying our new screen was done, we went in to pick it up and asked for our original screen as well, to which we were informed that they couldn’t find it and it was likely trashed.

I’m not sure why they thought it was okay to throw away someone else’s personal property without permission. The staff was nonchalant and essentially implied that it was our fault because they normally do not keep customers screens. To which I asked why they had accepted ours in the first place. All I received was a shrug and told that it was miscommunication.

The icing on the cake is that we went home to install the new screen which McLendon’s charged us $60 for, only to find it didn’t fit our window. In the process of trying to install it the tabs on the screen frame ripped off.

So we had a new screen that didn’t fit, that had already broke, and we no longer had our original screen. My husband went back to the shop to speak to a manager and still got no answers as to where our original screen was. They apologized for the new screen not fitting and said they would make another one at no additional charge, but did not offer any sort of refund for this frustrating experience.

We are still waiting on the new screen to see if it will fit… Overall, very disappointed with this experience. At the very least something should have been done to compensate us for our original screen.
