Needed some stuff fixed for our fire fighting equipment. Little John got us in right away. Got us fixed up and down the road same day so we could put our equipment back to use. Really appreciate these guys hard work. Really couldn’t ask for a better experience or a better price.

Traveling westward on interstate 84, I limped into The Dalles with a bent strut on a special anti-sway device attached to our toyhauler.

The local mechanic referred me to The Dalles Iron Works. “If anyone can fix it, they can.”

When I arrived as this historic brick building, I was immediately assured that they could help.

The part was fixed by their straightening expert who looked like he was strong enough to bend it with his bare hands. In minutes the part was fixed and the guys even lent a hand as I reassembled the device step-by-step.

I don’t know if I’ve ever been treated kinder anywhere in America.

Today I read more about this city called The Dalles, and discovered that it was considered the end of the Oregon Trail. This was the city where westward pioneers were welcomed and and assisted by citizens of The Dalles as they resupplied before leaving to their final destinations in the Pacific Northwest. I’m deeply grateful that this same spirit of kindness lives on.

There’s much more I could mention, but allow me to close by saying thanks.

Thank you for your expertise with metals. Thank you even more for your willingness to help a stranger passing through your uniquely beautiful city. I’m grateful to say that we made it home safely.

Shane did an incredible job making a custom part for our bike hitch in under 20 minutes at an amazing price 🙂 We have dealt with welders all across the United States and Dalles Iron Works is by far the most friendly and fair shop we have been to in the US. Thank you guys for a job well done! Holly in reception was also kind and welcoming and had us come right in even though it was close to closing time.

Oh my goodness, what a terrific resource you have here in town. Extremely knowledgeable, very well equipped, very capable and creative, not inexpensive but certainly worth it. I travel the country and I don't think that there are many great shops like this around. Thank you guys for all the help. I'll probably be back.

I mainly bought metal stock but I knew from looking around at the equipment and organization these folks were top notch. But I think they are gone now 🙁
