German roots in California paired with a lot of enthusiasm in serving and service food for affordable prices! This is what I have found on my way at the 101 in Carlsbad. Try the apple strudel, it is really delicious. The pain point is that the owner and founder paths away and his daughter is now looking for new place to move with her business. I do cross my fingers. Please stay with us and add this German flavor to the California dreams.

This place doesn't disappoint. I always come here to get my ham hocks for ham bone soup. The prices are good and they have every type of meat you can think of. They also have bones for dogs which is a plus for our household. They also sell a wide variety of beers, German sweets and delicacies. They also have a restaurant which seems very popular although I've never personally tried it, I've heard good things.

I LOVE this place!! Fantastic German restaurant and a great place to get unique deli meats, as well as European grocery items! The location is shutting down in September, however, I'm sure they will relocate. Hurry in and grab a delicious German Dish or dessert!! ?

Local staple. Gonna miss this place. Food is delicious. Wide variety of authentic dishes. Deli and Mart has multiple selections of items from overseas. House made sausages and even house made high quality dog food.

Should have taken pic of the Wonderful Breakfast !! Great tasting choices for Breakfast ,Lunch ,Dinner. You get more than Generous portions and High Quality Ingredients. German Deli and also many German and European Food Staples you can purchase at this Fine Establishment . Real Carlsbad landmark since 1967 !! Unfortunately it is slated to Close in September. Due to Increased rent !! Sad !!

This place was recommended to me for breakfast and I’m glad I went but I wasn’t expecting to stand in a line to order my food and then take a number to my table. The cheese omelette and home fries were good, the coffee was good and you get up to pour your own including water and soda. The place was clean and pretty crowded for a Monday morning at 11:30.
The food and coffee is cheap and worth standing in line but we did have to wait 20 minutes at the table and people that came after us were getting their food first.
The groceries are pretty expensive and there are a lot of empty shelves, not sure why but it looks like they do most of their business on the restaurant side.

This place was recommended to me by a coworker who has been here a handful of times. When I came here I originally came to just buy some grocery items and a few items. However, when I got here I got lost looking in every aisle. I found so many fun treats like candies, cookies, and other items my grandma used to get for me as a kid. They had a huge selection of canned fish options, and many options of pasta and cheese selections.

I ended up spending some time here until I looked through each section building up an appetite when I decided I would try out some of there lunch items. I ordered the Ruben with Sourdough Bread and German Potato Salad and it was good. It wasn't the best Ruben I had, but I would order it again, and I will definitely come back to try other menu items. The potato salad was different, a bit vinegary and better than I expected.

The restaurant here is great, but it can take a long time to put in an order, and almost as long to get your order. So plan ahead. Everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious, carefully made, and well prepared, but it would be great if they came up with a more efficient order taking system. The shop is the best European market and meat shop in the region. It's a treat every time.
