Water Tower historical plaque: “This historic property has been designated a Significant Cultural Resource in 1990 by the City of Culver City.
Water Tower, 10202 Washington Boulevard, Constructed 1937.”
This was Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios from 1924 to 1986, where they filmed The Wizard of OZ. The Water Tower serves several purposes, including firefighting, and for filming flood scenes. The height of the tower creates high water pressure. The tank can hold up to 100,000 gallons.
Historic water towers are also found at the Disney and Warner Brothers studios in Burbank, and at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, but none of them have a historical plaque. The Disney water tower is the only one with more than four legs. It has six.

Sony studio is great but the tour was alright.. not getting to see any real sets on the tour was a bummer... But our guide Emma was amazing!

This was a good tour, but expect the unexpected. At the time we toured (Late June 2024) there wasn't much going on at the studios but set building (which we weren't allowed to see). We weren't able to see the Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune sets as they were supposedly being "re-built." Still was worth the money for a one-time trip compared to other studio tours and pricing. They have Breaking Bad vehicles, merch and some props, so that was pretty cool.

I often visit for meetings but I know they door tours of the studio. I believe you can call and set something up. I see the tours in groups where a guide will tell you about what goes on where. There's also a gift shop on site to grab some swag.
