Having recently completed the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route from Seattle to Santa Barbara I had ample opportunity to put my Lone Peak front and rear panniers and handlebar bag through the challenges of rain, headwinds, steep descents and persistently pesky raccoons. Unlike the "bag" style panniers, the Lone Peak panniers are more streamlined and offer less wind resistance when peddling into fierce headwinds or when descending steep hills. The mounting systems ensured that the panniers were secure against the front and rear racks with no swaying or flapping. When combined with rain covers, my gear stayed dry, clean and readily available even in the driving rain squalls encountered on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula and Grays Harbor. The rain covers also provide enough protection from raccoons that I found that once I began using them at night the raccoons quickly decided to seek easier targets.

Lastly, even after more than a month on the road and being assaulted by raccoons with muddy paws I washed down the panniers with laundry detergent, rinsed and when dried they looked just like new.

I had mailed a bike rack pack for repair to Lone Peak and received it back a few days ago. While I paid for the main set of zippers to be replaced, Lone Peak also replaced the expansion zipper set without extra charge.

In a brain-damaged moment several years back while cutting away some shopping bags from the top strap, I also cut the strap in two. Lone Peak replaced that too, something totally unexpected.

With Lone Peak's repair backlog, it took a while to get the pack back, but it was well worth the wait. Lone Peak went well above and beyond "the call of duty" for me. Highly recommended.

i ordered a pair of custom high visibility flourescent green p-500 panniers from gary at lone peak for a loyal client who has been patronizing port townsend cyclery for 20 years. the client was very specific in his requests regarding which size attachment hooks, durability of the panniers, classic aesthetic.....gary was very helpful in answering my client"s questions, returned messages very promptly and even enclosed extra mounting pieces to secure the pannier( as backups) at no extra charge......the panniers were custom made and delivered 3 weeks before my client's tour which made all of us happy ! the price of the panniers with their timeless aesthetic, very high quality materials, stitching, non ostentatious labeling are very much worth the price,in fact, the lone peaks are at or below other made in usa panniers that are NOT custom! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND contacting gary at lone peak for any bikepacking or traditional pannier bags !..........bob/port townsend cyclery....21 feb,2018

This Expandable Bike Seat Bag is very well made, however it has a horrible Design flaw. The back name strap is very loose, I can put 4 fingers in between the strap & bag. The result is when clipping on a "bike tail light" it falls over & points to the rear tire.

This is a Life & Death Flaw. The most important thing on any bike is the real tail light...it keeps you from death by car. If you want to Live, put on a bike tail light on your bike & don't Buy this Bag.
