I needed to purchase a car for a work related matter and I needed to do it fast. Chris Donofrio the manager was extremely helpful in ensuring this would be possible for me as well as working with my budget. I was able to purchase a car that day and picked it up two days later clean and ready for me to take home, buying a car has never been this easy. It was honestly a breeze, I wasn’t at the dealership for hours. I was ripped off at Brandon Honda. It wasn’t recently but it has stuck with me for a long time. Sold me a used car with problems and wouldn’t honer it. Dragged me around for a couple of months until the warranty expired at which time the finance guy literally scolded with his voice raised in his office that I should have purchased a extended warranty. They took the car back at trade in value and the very next day the car was back in the lot for the original price.. unrepaired.
Obviously I never went back.
I went to Ford and am still driving it today.

On December 13, I brought my CRV to Brandfon Honda for an oil change, accompanied by my 4-year-old son. I used to live in Branford and recently moved to Newtown. Unfortunately, my visit left me extremely disappointed due to two major issues.

1. Lost Phone:
During my visit, I lost my phone, and I strongly believe I may have dropped it in the car. While I am not directly blaming the dealership, I am waiting for Samsung to confirm its location through tracking.

2. Heater Noise Post-Service:
After the oil change was completed, I turned on my CRV and noticed the heater started making unusual noises, which had not occurred prior to my visit. I immediately returned to the service area, but the doors were locked. I knocked, and my service advisor Cindy opened the door. I explained the issue and mentioned that I had my 4-year-old son with me. I asked her to step outside and hear the noise for herself.

Her response was shocking: “We’re closed now, and I am not a mechanic. Come back tomorrow, and we can check it.” She also added, “We don’t inspect heaters during oil changes.” I reminded her that during their multi-point inspection, they recommended replacing the cabin and engine air filters (as seen in the attached report), which clearly shows inspections are part of their routine process.

Driving 45 minutes home in the cold with a child was frustrating, especially since the heater was perfectly fine before the oil change.

Follow-Up at Another Shop:
To get a second opinion, I took my CRV to another shop, where they discovered over 15 acorns inside the heat blower motor and fan. This finding raised two major concerns:

If there were 15 acorns in the blower motor before I came to the dealership, I would have heard the noise when I left my house. The heater worked perfectly before the oil change.
The engine air filter was marked for replacement during the inspection, and the blower motor (where the acorns were found) is located just below it. This made me question whether the acorns were placed intentionally to recommend additional repairs and charges.

Customer Service Experience:
What added to my disappointment was the lack of care and empathy shown by the service advisor. Knowing that I had a young child with me, she showed no concern for the fact that I would be driving home in the cold with a faulty heater. All staff members were still present but failed to offer any assistance or show basic humanity.

Conclusion:
I have serious doubts about the integrity of the service at Brandfon Honda. I believe this issue was created intentionally to charge me for additional repairs. I will no longer be returning to this dealership and encourage others to pay close attention to their belongings and seek second opinions on any repair recommendations from this place.

It’s sad to say, but my trust in Brandfon Honda has been completely shattered.

I don’t see why I need to call you when I was the one who had a negative experience. It should be your responsibility to reach out to me personally to address my concerns.

This approach reflects on the leadership of the dealership, and if this is the attitude at the top, it’s no surprise that it trickles down to the team. If my experience isn’t a concern and you’re not worried about me returning—which I won’t—then we can leave it at that.

This place is a disaster, avoid if you can. I am currently leasing a car from them and every step of the way is difficult from sales to service. Not customer friendly and countless rude encounters- people working here lead w being annoyed, even managers. It’s always something and it sometimes seems like they go out of their way to make things frustrating. I will not be renewing the lease once it’s finished and will stay far far away once I can. Eric in service is the only saving grace.

This is my second appointment for the same recall with no resolution. First appointment, someone actually called and let me know the part wasn’t available which was a few months ago. Last month or October, I got a notice from Honda again saying to schedule my appointment for the recall because the parts are available. I scheduled this appointment weeks ago. If the part wasn’t available, whoever was my “service advisor” which was Cindy or anyone should’ve called me from the dealership to let me know. I get there at 8:50am this morning and first interaction with “service advisor” Cindy wasn’t a good one but that’s another issue in itself. But I get checked in by a guy, tells me it’s going to take a few hours, and if I just want a ride home and they will pick me up when the car is ready. I get dropped off at home and maybe like 10 mins go by and I get a call…. The part isn’t available. I will never come back here after the poor service on this dealership’s behalf. Just like I said I booked this appointment weeks ago so if the part wasn’t available still, someone should’ve called and not waited til I dropped my car off and I’m back home to let me know. And then when I do get my car, tell me the part will be here Monday. So the part is available, the dealership just dropped the ball on ordering it. Very disappointing.

I just bought a 2025 HRV from Josh Cusano here. I really needed the car for the work week prior and Josh was super communicative and helpful in ensuring all necessary paperwork, deposits, etc were taken care of in order to make this possible on a Sunday and Gary was super knowledgeable on the different warranty options for me as we ran through the last bit of paperwork.
