Even though they are very closed on the day that we visited, we were able to look at the whale bones and read the history of how wailing destroyed the whole population of Wales in the Pacific Northwest. In one year in 1920, 46,000 whales were butchered. It also explained how whaling came to a halt after a long struggle with the citizens. It was good for my granddaughter to read all the signs and understand How things were before. I highly recommend this place for anybody with children.

Very cool and interesting museum. Tickets are $5, and those tickets give you a discount if you go to the Gray’s Harbor Lighthouse! A must visit in Westport. The lighthouse lens is unbelievably cool.

This place was a neat little museum. I loved all of the different displays. I think my favorites were all of the old lanterns. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very cute, informative, and great museum. Great displays with good information about the past of and around Westport. Love all the sea creature info. And the building in the back with the stunning lense is just amazing. Definitely give it a visit if you are in the area. Really low price and nice staff.

Super cute gem of a place 🙂 right on the pier and very affordable. It was $13 for 2 adults and a child - baby was free. It was neat to see the crab, fish and scallop displays alongside the coast guard history and other maritime exhibits. The Fresnel lens was awesome to see up close too! The only bummer was the card reader was broken so they were cash only.

A little maritime museum, sweet and to the point. Clearly an old museum without much update, but a nice local history. I especially liked the marine life aspect. Most maritime museums are about boats, I liked that this museum remembered that there is life under the water! Remember the Hansa Carrier ship hit by a storm in 1990? It left thousands of Nike shoes floating in the ocean. They have a pair, it's pretty cool. The huge crabs scared me, but also made me hungry.

What a treasure this museum is! The displays and writings create a very respectful and heartwarming tribute to the ones who give their lives every day to protect and nurture our coastal way of life. The guides are very friendly and helpful and the self-guided tour is quite easy and enjoyable. Anyone in the Grays Harbor County area needs to visit this museum!
