I just had my first day on my new custom skis from Wagner Skis, and I’m absolutely blown away. I had high expectations going in after hearing great things about Pete Wagner and his team, but the product they delivered still managed to surpass them.

I came in with a very specific specification for my skis and spent about an hour on a call with Pete. He listened carefully to what I wanted, asked thoughtful questions about how I ski and what I needed the skis to do, and then worked his magic to design something that performs exactly the way I hoped—and better.

On the slopes, these skis were fast and nimble through bumps, handled steep terrain with ease, and snapped out of tight turns with a fun, responsive pop. They’re also impressively durable. Even though I probably shouldn’t have been skiing them early season, I tested them through rocks and trees, and they held up incredibly well—no doubt thanks to Pete selling me on the enhanced durability upgrade (which was absolutely worth it).

If you’re on the fence about building custom skis, don’t hesitate—you won’t regret it. Yes, it’s a big investment, but if you’ve ever dreamed of having skis designed specifically for you and the way you ski, Wagner is the way to go.

This tour is free and they take you through the entire process from designing your own skis, through each step of making them to your final photo of your beautifully designed skis personalized for you. The entire process from beginning to end was incredibly interesting and rewarding. After submitting the skier DNA form, I set up a call with Pete to discuss what I was looking for in a ski. Pete was hands on through the whole process, from conceptualizing to designing, and I really appreciated that level of engagement. I wanted a ski that could be driven hard, but would still be relatively soft and playful. Comfortable in steep terrain, bumps and trees, but also fun to noodle around in softer snow. I don’t fall in love easily, but I am head over heels for my new Wagners.

The relationship was born out of a retirement gift from my team. Briefing my personal Wagner consultant on my ability, mass and intended use resulted in the quick delivery of a recipe for the construction of my ideal ski. Choosing the graphics was more difficult as it required me to select. It was going to be a meaningful reminder of my love of skiing and my professional history. After meeting with Wagner again, I selected Patriot Barn Wood with tail silhouette etchings of Stein and Franz.

When the skis arrived, I blushed with delight upon first sight. I impatiently waited for CA snow until last week when I made it to Olympic Valley. Laps on Red Dog challenged the skis performance under changing conditions. Over the course of the day, I went from crush to fully in love.

All aspects of creating with Wagner Skis has been exceptional. Thank you, Pete and FKL/FHP, for such a wonderful experience. I will enjoy my skis forever.

World-class service and incredible skis. If you can pick up your skis in Telluride, it is worth the effort. Their ski shop is fascinating to tour, and you get the added benefit of being able to ski in Heaven on Earth. The entire process, from design to test-drive, was effortless.

I followed the online design route, and I understand that dumping a lot of monies into a pair of skis, without actually skiing or touching them first, can be scary. But, they make the process easy, and the finished ski was EXACTLY what I wanted, both in looks and in function.

I give Wagner Skis the highest possible recommendation.

I am on my third pair of Wagner Custom skis and have skied in excess of 1,000 days on them combined. Even my first set which have done over 500 days are still in good nick!

The latest pair are an all-mountain ski (96 under foot) and I have now skied on them for about 30 days in many conditions including moderately deep powder, dry packed powder, breakable crust, spring corn and slick icy groomers.

Whilst there is always some sacrifice at each end of the scale these skis are by far the best ski I have ever owned and skied on.

I can't recommend these skis enough based on performance & durability.
