UPDATE: as of the beginning of 2023, the Meat Lab is CLOSED for the foreseeable future.

They are closed for renovations, but also the previous manager (who was a UofA employee) stole a bunch of money from the program.

Just bad form from the UofA.

I feel really bad for the students. This used to be a wonderful operation.

This is operated by uofa students and is a hidden Tucson gem for grain & grass fed beef. Take note of their hours Friday through Monday to genera public. UofA employees can visit any day- i believe. Also, because of a huge spike in COVID cases (it's the end of 2020) they have lost several student employees. In turn, phone ordering is on hold indefinitely. They are allowing customers into the shop, with masks on PROPERLY. And will take your order, payment & haul right from the comfort of your car. Many times my kid and I don't get out of our pjs.;)

So I only have 4 stars up, because I have not had a chance to try the meat I bought. Although their beef sticks are yummy. When trying to get to this place for the 1st time, use Roger instead of Limberlost. The girls in there were so jovial and knowledgeable about what they sell. The grain fed beef is grass-fed and then grain finished. So its still really good quality.

The facility is incredibly clean, the staff professional and courteous, and the meat selection is great. The staffer able to provide me with a really good recommendation for this beautiful flat iron steak I can't wait to get home and start cooking it for Father's Day. The one downside is it's a little bit difficult to find but Google Maps got me here without a problem. I will definitely be back again.

This place rocks! If you want fresh, grass fed beef, this is the place. Part of the UofA agriculture division, they have great selections of portion cut, ground, or ribs. They also have pork selections and Wildcat Chorizo, yum! For about the same price as the chain groceries, it's a great alternative.

Place to go for everything from a good dog bone to grass fed beef. The students running the store are extremely helpful and glad to help you find your cut of pork or beef you are looking for. You will have to trade a few more of your dollars for the cut of meat for your dinner table, but of course it's worth it.

Where to start? We bought half a Beef, it was cut and packaged to our exact wishes. Best beef we've ever bought. Great price and professional people who are proud of thier commitment to the highest standards of customer service.

Its worth the drive from Green Valley to Tucson. The taste is so much better than anything you’d buy in any grocery store. I have been there twice and have not been disappointed.
