This place is a part of history and has been lovingly restored to its near original state. It has many period pieces and is beautifully decorated. The grounds are meticulously kept and even has horses out back!

I chose to have my wedding here for all of these reasons. It was a very small family event.

I was not disappointed. We stayed in the Ordinary and the two cottages. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms were so nice and plentiful, one for every room and then public ones on every floor.

Pam, the property manager, was so nice to work with and knows everything about the whole area.

It was absolutely perfect.

We had a lovely stay at the Ordinary over the weekend! Beautiful house and grounds, rooms were very comfortable! We had a blast playing card games by the fire in the tavern and playing croquet on the grounds!

Had a fantastic stay at this unique property. The property manager Pam is so communicative and helpful. The property itself is so nice especially when you think of the history. Plenty of bathrooms and rooms. Space for entertaining. Beautiful outside grounds to relax in. I would stay here again.

My son and his wife’s rehearsal dinner and reception for their wedding was held here over the weekend. It is a wonderful venue situated on beautiful acreage with horses close enough to watch and admire, but far enough away to not notice any farm nuisances. The property is immaculately manicured with landscaping that provides privacy, yet compliments all the buildings. The houses that were rented had everything we needed. All the modern necessities, but with a colonial, quaint feel. The decorations of the houses are timeless and are consistent with the historical era. Everything was so clean and inviting. The owner, Pam, went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate the requests that we had. She was there to greet us and she was so pleasant to work with. It was a rainy weekend and at one point she was wiping things off for the guests. The buildings are just a short walk from each other but gives you a sense of solitude.

If you’re looking for a perfect place to host a wedding, special event or just a getaway, The Ordinary is your place.

Our stay at The Ordinary was a real treat! Check-in was easy and the house was spotless. The cleanest Airbnb we have ever stayed at. The real treat though was the splendor of this historical house! We felt like we had stepped back 200 years in time but with all the modern amenities. The house is decorated perfectly in colonial colors and furnishings. Beautiful color choices and so much history to read about from the pictures on the walls. Oh the stories those walls must have witnessed over the last 200 years! The foundation of our country could have been mapped out right there in the tavern during George Washington's visits. We thoroughly enjoyed the tavern space as well. It was fun to have a whole bar to ourselves to make drinks and play games. We will definitely be back!

Really enjoyed staying at the Lafayette Cottage. Very comfortable accommodations, clean and as pictured. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was huge! Easy communications with Pamela before check in made the stay even better! Coffee bar was nice as well as the cash bar availability! Great place to rest for us while we were in town for a wedding weekend!

Pam and her team are top notch! The Ordinary is anything but! It was the perfect spot for our multi-family stay. Most times we congregated in the tavern, but every room in the house was clean and well-appointed. The kitchen made meal prep easy, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the grounds were fantastic. Pamela brought her horses out for my kids to say hello, and she was responsive to every text. She also provided lots of history to this unique stay. There was a good restaurant easy walking distance across the street, and a playground within a five minute walk as well. would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking in the area! Hope to be back again.

The Ordinary of New Kent feels both luxurious and historically authentic at the same time. The brick floors in the bar/tavern area allowed me to imagine being there 300 years ago. The furniture, tables, and artwork are very nice but also have a historic feel.

Our bed was comfortable. Bathroom was roomy and nicely furnished.

The setting is relaxing. I enjoyed reading at one of the many outdoor tables overlooking horses and trees. At night I sat at these same tables gazing at the stars.

We had an excellent reasonably priced meal at Martha's which is a short walk across the street. We had a nice hike at the Wahrani Nature Trail which was an 8 minute drive. On Saturday the Farmer's market was about a 5 minute drive and a fun outing.

It is clear that a lot of effort went into the restoration. I think most will enjoy their stay at The Ordinary.
