The annual re-enactment was a fun family day. It moves a bit slow kids should be prepped that it is a relaxing experience. The whole thing takes 45 minutes to an hour but it is nice to arrive early and look at the little shops set up with period souvenirs like clothing, weapons, toys, books etc. Bring lawn chairs and set them up in the shade right along the safety line for the best views. There are food trucks set up with hot dogs, chili dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, and ham sandwiches. This year they had snow cones too. There is also a small but nicely done VMI museum on site with short movie that retails the Battle of new market.

It is beautiful! Taking pictures is a pain. Marker 8 middle you can't take a pic because you have ugly picnic tables in your way. Also try to take a pic of the placard and you have a dog poop sign in your way.
