Not a dog friendly place. I called the number on steamboat.com to ask if dogs are allowed on the gondola. They told me yes, as long as your pet is leashed. When I arrived at the ticket office and purchased the $35 gondola ticket, I was also told my dog could travel on the gondola. I proceeded to the gondola and was told that only service dogs are allowed. They were able to issue me a refund but it wasted the better part of my day.

We brought our 5 year old son to teach him how to snowboard and it is completely inaccessible. Group lessons are $429/day, which is 2/3 the price of an Ikon base SEASON pass. The worst part is Steamboat won't even let you use the learning area if you are not in the $429 ski school. We walked almost 1/2 mile to the worst magic carpet run we've ever used. For claiming to be a family resort, this is unbelievable and a terrible experience for your average family. This is a classic example of corporate greed catering to ONLY the wealthy making learning winter sports completely inaccessible to the vast majority of Americans. We'll head back to actual family friendly resorts like Loveland and Cooper who have great teaching areas that are not robbing you because of greed. So disappointing Steamboat.

Lastly, for the most expensive lift ticket in America, the entire Steamboat has ONLY 2 EV chargers, 1 of which is broken. Even small resorts like Eldora and Taos have 10-25 EV chargers. You would think a winter ski resort would want to support and encourage sustainability considering the future of winter sports depends on this. We've had an overall terrible experience for our family here and will not be coming back. It's a real bummer since we took an entire week of vacation to come ski at Steamboat 😔

Not the greatest place for an advanced skier or someone day tripping in. If you are a beginner or intermediate skier with deep pockets staying on the mountain this place if for you. No soul. None.
