This park is one of our go-to places for winter and early spring camping and hiking. When snow is still on the palour, and ice is still on the lake, the park is snow free and hiking trails are accessible.
The hikes here provide beautiful views and a great workout.
We did the Northrup Canyon hike for the first time this visit. It was rather muddy in places, but otherwise a great hike with beautiful sights.
The hike to the top of Steamboat Rock is always sure to provide gorgeous views and this time was no different. Despite ice covering part of the lake, the trails were clear with just a tiny amount of mud.
He campground is huge, and though only a couple of loops are open this time of year, there were plenty of sites to choose from. The bathrooms are fully functional and well stocked with showers (always a bonus when camping, especially in muddy conditions).
We highly recommend this park.

Fantastic WA State Park. Sites in Cove loop are shadeless but spaced far apart. Full hookups, beach and playground. The trail head to the top of Steamboat Rock is across the road from Dune loop.

As locals we cannot get enough of this park any and all seasons. It is always jaw dropping beautiful. Biking and hiking in the spring and fall, the sand dunes are so fun for the kids… We swim all summer long. Every opportunity we can to get a boat on the water and fish. The playground is at the very end of the road and is the best in town. Hiking to the top of steamboat rock is a must in spring or fall. The views are killer, but note the hike is very steep for a short time, with rock scrambles and some slippery parts coming back down. Hikers must have good shoes, good balance and confidence with stepping and climbing. But otherwise it is doable and fairly short, to the top in about 45min and at the top series of off shoots to explore, one can spend anywhere from 1-3 hours on this hike as desired. Don’t forget hikes also in Northrup Canyon…rock climbing and the list goes on. Everyone can enjoy this beautiful place!

We camped in our RV for 5 days. The park is really clean, the trails are well kept and the camping spots are beautiful. Staff was friendly with a quick check-in process.

Water sports, fishing, great hiking, and restrooms are clean. Walking paths within the park between the camping areas is pretty dangerous because of people on ELECTRIC bikes and scooters. Pedestrians beware as they exceed the posted speed limit everywhere.

Amazing views with great amenities. Older parts of the park have shade trees whereas newer area trees are small and growing. Clean, level, with hook ups! Great views from all sides. Hikes, bikes and tours available at Grand Coulee Dam. Highly recommend.

Awesome park. Would be nice to have mooring for the boats or be able to dock. Awesome that there are fish cleaning stations. Awesome scenery. This month is apparently gnats season! Noticeable in town, but ok at camp sites. 50 ft site is max but we were able to fit in our 30.5 ft RV and 30 ft boat trailer in, with some grass overlap. Bigger sites would be nice. Had a great time.
Only caught some pickerel... lots of fish on the fish finder but not interested in biting!

This campground is perfect for almost any summer activity. Swimming , hiking, boating, biking, fishing or even riding electric scooters. I personally enjoy cruising my Segway gt2 in the evening. (Do be careful they really regulate speed) Bring good flashlights if you go hiking up to the rock and beware of black widows and rattlesnakes. However don’t let that discourage you from coming to this beautiful place!
