It's been several years since I'd been in a recording studio, and when a friend asked if I would record a song for her 93 year old father, I was happy to do it- but skeptical of my own ability, now as a senior citizen myself (Who has good breath at this age?) but also to accomplish the project at home. I contacted Michael at Spokane Recording Studio and he said he would listen and let me know. My former voice coach provided the backing track, and after several takes, I sent Michael some recordings. The result is a wonderful product that will make a gift for a treasured friend! Thank you, Michael, from the bottom of all of our hearts!

Michael was recommended to me through a trusted friend and bandmate in the music biz. I had an album from 30 years ago digitized from cassette that I was hoping to get remastered. I was cautiously optimistic as the music was good but recorded on a Tascam 8-track cassette machine with very little outboard gear, limited microphones, and mixed literally on Radio Shack speakers.
Michael was able to take what I had and make it sound Amazing! He got rid of all the tape noise and "reverse bleed" from the cassette, widened and boosted the tracks for a much bigger sound, and got it to Redbook CD standards. The result is now what I always hoped it could be, and Michael was great to work with, answering questions and offering expert advice along the way. Bucket list item accomplished, Thank You!!!

Michael is an amazing asset , guide, producer, engineer, and comrade. When I relocated to Spokane I thought, what now? ( I’ve been in studios all over the world and even co-owned a couple in Seattle.) Filled with excuses, regrets and lost dreams, I showed up at Michael’s studio hoping to begin again. I was grounded and I was lost. He helped repair my broken wings and gave me lift off. He reintroduced me to my music and the heart of my playing.
Oh there is laughter, there is harmony, and the melody has construct and placement.
It took me traveling the world around to find this gifted Producer/Engineer and my life has been forever bettered by his talent and willingness. “Above and Beyond Studio” is what I dub this great gem of a recording studio located in good ole Spokane, Washington.
Book up while you can because I plan on keeping him busy for years to come. Now I send him tracks from wherever I am and he mixes and polishes. I’ll never have to leave my home in Spokane without him. Next week I’ll be sending him tracks while I’m in California!
He is patient, supportive and knows how to bring out the best. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with legends and honestly, Michael is my favorite ( except I love his wife Cass just as much.)

If you're looking for a great recording studio in Spokane, Washington you've come to right place. I've recorded two albums/CD's (In Romp Time and Bumps on a Broken Road) at the Spokane Recording Studio, with Mike Schettler as recording engineer, and have had a fantastic experience both times. Mike is smart, experienced, has the required equipment and technology, is a dynamite musician himself, and, perhaps most importantly, is a nice, funny person who genuinely enjoys the recording process. Mike is the best. His experience and expertise have made our collaborations sound great! He is a super-nice guy and very easy to work with. His studio features both half-dead and full-dead isolation booths and a large live main room. Awesome guy. Awesome place.
