We moved into a new home. The salesperson initially called and was quite arrogant. He then just turned up at our house unannounced after specifically asking him not to come whilst we sourced quotes from other suppliers. He was clearly annoyed by the fact we had chosen another supplier despite sound energy having serviced the property for 14 years. He couldn't believe we had gone elsewhere when the service contract we had been quoted was over $200 cheaper with the alternate company. It felt like he was trying to force his way into our home and wouldn't take no for an answer. Its possible that sound energy would have provided a great service but the initial sales contact left me with a bitter taste in my mouth which resulted in us finding another supplier.

I cannot speak too highly of Sound Energy. Several years ago when we moved to Darien the real estate agent recommended them as a fuel oil supplier. A couple of years later we had a different outfit do an annual inspection of our central air conditioning prior to summer and they told us of a “faulty part” that would cost $2,000 to replace. The explanation didn’t sound right and we decided to get a second opinion from Sound Energy and were told that no such “repair” was required. Ever since we have found them honest and reliable. When they make a repair I feel confident it was done right and fairly.

I would give zero stars if possible, but you have to give at least one to post a comment. Without question, the worst fuel company I have ever dealt with and you REALLY have to go overboard (good or bad) for me to bother to write a review. Lazy, rude, condescending, flippant, arrogant, indifferent are the appetizers. For the main course try incompetent with shady business practices bordering on criminal. I will skip dessert. After going through HELL and thinking no company could be this bad...it must be ME, I called in another service company. In 1 phone call, I found another local company that is so amazing that I could not believe I put up with Sound Energy's outrageous behavior for as long as I did. For starters, the new company came out and found over 3 feet of compacted soot and debris in the furnace chimney. Imagine how many years my annual cleaning was not done correctly. The entire system was not drafting through the chimney and the flame settings and adjustments were incorrect, making the system overwork and burn too hot, creating soot deposits and excessive oil consumption. One day and one new company later, it feels like a new heating system has been installed. Quiet, efficient, even heat. The entire house is actually warmer with the thermostat set LOWER and the oil is almost a dollar less per gallon. One town over All Sound Energy does is complain about how everything is YOUR fault. When you point out things that seem like they could be their fault, you are dismissed. Since I was unfailingly polite until I couldn't take it anymore, I have to assume that they first look up your property value, then base their level of service on the dollar amount they discover. From all of the glowing reviews from the hedge-funders on here, I have to assume that anything under 5 million gets "D-listed". Even though they probably send the same incompetent people to their homes, they probably get taken seriously when they call to complain. Beyond disgraceful.

Sound Energy is a great company to deal with. They are responsive and courteous. I never have any problem and always get someone when I call. After hours, they'll call back quick after talking to a live operator and send a tech if it's an emergency. I was recently in a pickle as my oil went out overnight. Walt called first thing in the morning and had his guys at my house, back up and running before my family woke up to notice! THANKS SOUND ENERGY!
