My bike never rode better! Jonathan did a tune up and a few repairs on my circa 1992 Schwinn Crisscross. So glad I found this guy, and have no qualms recommending him.

I brought in a bent front wheel axle on a nice set of 4 year old Velocity Atlas wheels. Jon was able to source an NOS axle that was better suited to the local trails. Jon's attention to detail in selecting the new axle made it possible to use the existing spokes. This saved in material waste and cash!! The rebuilt wheel looks and feels great. Better than new!! And much faster turnaround than I expected though it was December (he's probably busier when the weather is nice). Service Cycle is my new LBS!!! I've asked him to rebuild another wheel to add a dynamo. Will update when that work is finished. Highly recommended.

Jon at Service Cycle should have a doctrine in bicycles and bicycle repair, from the wealth of knowledge accumulated from years of working at bicycle shops to a lifetime passion for riding and a meticulous attention to detail... actually I’m more confident in saying he has achieved a guru-like status.

I’ve been lucky enough to have had my bicycle serviced by Jon long before he started Service Cycle and have had the privilege to watch him work his craft while educating me on proper bicycle maintenance and repair. Thankfully, I’ve never had to deal with the hassle of bringing my bicycle to a shop for repair. Jonathan is a master wizard when it comes to bicycle repair. I am constantly asking him questions and seeking his advice for diagnosis and repair for my bikes. Jonathan has built two sets of wheels for me and each set I’ve taken on long distance tours. The first one 2500 miles through South Africa and the second set I rode a 1700 mile route through Ecuador and not once did I have any issues with the wheels - the build were impeccable!

Jon and Service Cycle are amazing. Just the fact that Jon comes to you, accesses what needs to be done to repair your bike, and if you agree, he takes the bike to his shop, is a fantastic service. As someone who drives a 4 door Nisaan Altima, I did not miss the challenge of trying to get my bike into my car and drive it around to bike shops for repairs.

Jon was punctual and followed all current Covid protocols, wearing a mask and respecting social distancing as he looked at my bike. I had unfortunately neglected my bike the last few years and it needed new tires, new chains and some work on the gears. I also requested a new saddle. Jon was upfront and admitted the only delay in repairing the bike would be the speed at which he would receive the parts that he needed to order. I think we all have experienced delivery delays during the pandemic.

I was shocked that Jon did not charge extra for coming to me and picking up the bike. In fact, overall costs were slightly lower then the bigger bike shops in my area of East Haven. Once Jon accessed the bike more closely, he texted his estimate to which I agreed. Within a week and a half, Jon texted me that my bike was ready for drop off and he would like to deliver it to me later that afternoon.

It looked great - but I had to take it for a spin. Now my bike was at least 25 years old. A fuji ATL 21 speed. With Jon's expertise and care, as well as new tires, gears, chain and saddle, my bike rode as smooth as butter on a knife.

I highly recommend Jon and Service Cycle. I already plan on having Jon give the bike a tune up next year. Reasonably priced, packed with knowledge, personable and professional His obvious love of bikes comes shining through. I had contacted a lot of bike repair shops in the area prior to calling Service Cycle. Most of the bigger shops were either booked until the end of August, were a lot more expensive then Service Cycle - or both - With Service Cycle you get one one one personal and professional care complete with door to door pick up and delivery - its a win all around. If you want someone who loves biking as much as you do and wants to repair your bike so you can get back on the road as soon and safely as possible in an economical fashion, then call Service Cycle - you will be glad you did. Since my original review. I have used Service Cycle on at least 3 occassions. Some minor repairs as well as major upgrades. Regardless of the job, Service Cycle never lets you down. Professional as well as honest with a love of bikes, Jon and Service cycle always comes through and gives so much more then any of those so called better known and higher priced bike shops. Service Cycle remains at the top of my recommendation list.
