I just started my journey to learn about self-defense and completed my AZ CCW Permit training with Jonathan yesterday. If you are serious about starting the same journey or you would like to further your self-defense weapon training with an NRA Certified Instructor, you should invest some time to a least talk with Jonathan Bloom at Refiners Firearms.

Many out there are very knowledgeable about gun safety and proper techniques. However, in my experience a knowledgeable person does not automatically make a good teacher. It is a rare commodity these days to find someone who is extremely knowledgeable and very good self-defense instructor.

I have been around rifles most of my life. However, I am a novice at pistols. In the very short period of several hours, I went from having very little confidence of proper pistol safety, control, and accuracy to being one-step above novice. My journey has begun.

After speaking with Jonathan if you decide to become his student I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the results of the classroom and range practice. You will learn the five rules of safely carrying a gun and the best weapon handling safety practices. Jonathan will teach you how to do to defend yourself and those you care about properly and accurately. He will be showing you the best shooting stance, pistol grip, aiming, and trigger control of your pistol. On the range, Jonathan does not look at your target while you are practicing. Instead, his complete attention is upon you to ensure you are correctly doing everything he has taught and to make the needed beginning to end fine-tuning adjustments to create the desired results at the target.

Additionally and most importantly, Jonathan will teach you about the huge personal responsibility of conceal carry and how the criminal and civil laws will affect you should you make a decision to use your weapon to protect yourself and/or others should you determine that a deadly threat situation occur.

After one day with Jonathan, can I honestly say that I am personally ready to conceal carry? Although the results of my range practice amazed me when I looked at the paper target, I have to say no. I am confident now with my weapon, but I need to spend more time absorbing the legal side of CCW but that is just me. As I stated earlier, my journey has begun. Maybe by the time my permit arrives I'll be ready.

My wife and I just met Dena and Jonathan at the Phoenix gun show over the weekend. We were shopping for a pistol and had stopped at a few vendors in the process. First off I just want to say AMAZING PLACE! Before we even started talking about firearms, accessories or anything Jon and Dena explained to us what they were all about and the objective of there mom and pop family owned gun shop. They were very friendly and were 100% about the customer and getting what the customer wanted not something they recommended like most other shops in the valley do. A big key thing for me that made me now a life returning customer as long as their doors are open was that Jon was very knowledgeable and experienced about all the products I talked with him about. Jonathon came to our house and did a family pistol safety training class for us and the kids. He was extremely knowledgeable, hands on, and provided us with gun safety knowledge we wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else. I used refiners firearms as my FFL transfer dealer for purchasing a gun online. Jonathan and Dena run this shop on their own and they are absolutely incredible people. Even though I was purchasing a gun from an online company they were more than eager to help! John is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They're ammo prices are higher than most places but they are willing to price match on cases. Whatever reviews say they run a shady scam is absolutely ludicrous. I had an incredible experience with them and will be getting my business when I need something!

I have made purchases and taken a private class from Jonathan at Refiners. I love buying from Refiners because you dont feel like you are talking to a salesman like other gun stores. I feel like I am getting advice and help with a more personal touch. Jonathan always makes sure he answers all of your questions and is great at making sure you are happy and educated about your purchase. I drive a very far distance to do business with Refiners but it is well worth it. I highly recommend checking them out!
