A seriously professional and courteous shop!
We're having to say goodbye to a furry family member in a week and we really wanted to do something to honor her. We're not a huge fan of sending our best friend off somewhere to get cremated and getting mixed ashes back. So we decided to do a home cremation on some beautiful family property. Due to her health and our work schedules, we were pretty short on time to arrange a realistic way to do it and not make a mess of it.
We went to a welding shop downtown Olympia and they tried making us a minimum estimate of a few weeks and a cost of $220. We felt we had no choice, so we placed the order for what we needed and tried tipping $100 to squeeze it in at the end of their day. We didn't hear back for over a day.
This morning I gave Puget Sound Welding a call and spoke to James, chatted briefly about what I needed and took a trip down to draw something up. He was super courteous and helped spitball the idea and drawing. We took a walk over to some of their spare sheets of metal, found one that worked, and he said they would just do it for me and have it for me by the end of the day. His communication via email was prompt and consistent, by just afternoon I got an email that it was ready and waiting.
It's awesome that they can utilize their trade and competency to just whip something up on the fly, that I'm assuming is an unusual request, and make a profound difference in the quality of the cremation and ash retention as well as honoring her correctly. Not in a jury-rigged fashion.
Now we can put in chrysanthemums and twigs of a fir tree she loved smelling, her favorite toy. It’s perfect.

Contacted a handful of local welders about our wrought iron stair rail that snapped in two during some remodeling. Puget Sound Welding was responsive and straightforward about costs. James worked with us to make sure it got fixed at a reasonable price and the guys who came out to weld it together were very pleasant, professional and efficient. Always happy to find local businesses like this and will call them up when we eventually decide to replace the rail.

We had an awning frame bend from the wind. We brought it to Zeiglers for repair. They were very blasé and unprofessional when we dropped it off. He said "it'll probably be a month, unless it's in the way then we might get to it sooner." Nice, right? Two months and no frame. We started calling once a week to find out the status and they kept saying it would be done that week. We got tired of being lied to and researched other welders. I contacted James and it was such a breath of fresh air after dealing with Zeiglers. He communicated quickly and often. It was done in 2 weeks time and was done very well. We couldn't be happier. I can't recommend this business enough. Don't go to Zeiglers unless you like to be treated poorly. Support Puget Sound Welding and you won't be disappointed.
