Very cool bar. Got burgers to go and the bartender was super nice. Food was amazing. They even have swings as the seats at the bar. Would highly recommend the green chili burger and the mushroom Swiss burger.

One star is generous…..Living up to the name, this bartender was just plain grumpy and unfriendly. Seriously, after visiting Ouray Brewery - and it was packed, we wanted to chill. Walking in, there was 2, yes two patrons. Locals and I suppose the bartenders buddies. He ignored us for about five minutes, while texting and chatting about his dog to the 2, yes two patrons. We ordered two IPAs. $19 and some change. We were served some nasty turpentine. Never in my beer IPA journey have I had such a worst, nasty, foul tasting beer. I am not sure what the deal is, but this place sucks, their beer sucks and the service sucks. I posted a pic of the supposed IPA, look at the color…. Does that seem like an IPA? We choked down half and dumped the rest in the flower bed out front, I hope it didn’t kill the flowers…….Skip it and go to Ouray Brewery.

Initially had a tough time trying to figure out if Ourayle House Brewery and Mr Grumpy Pants Brewing were the same thing: they are 😉

It is located within the same porch as Maggies Kitchen so if you find Maggies just go through the door on the right and it will say “beer only” like the picture.

The beer is 5 stars and so is the view from the porch.

Few things to note: you will get prompt service but no small talk so be prepared 🙂 the bartender was polite but just know the branding is on point.

Would definitely come back again!

A Brew-tiful Disaster

If you're looking for a place where your taste buds will be both confused and offended, look no further! This brewery somehow managed to capture the flavor of disappointment in every sip. I’m not sure what they’re brewing back there—mop water? Fermented gym socks? Whatever it is, it’s bold, it’s unapologetic, and it’s horrifying.

The IPA had the bitterness of my life choices and the lager…well, let’s just say I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. The aftertaste? It lingers longer than an awkward conversation with your in-laws.

On the plus side, if you enjoy the sensation of drinking something that makes you question every decision leading up to that moment, this place is perfect. As for me, I’ll stick to water… and therapy.

The name is fitting and not in a cute way.

My wife ordered a golden lager and received what was obviously an IPA. Bartender just said "it came out of the golden lager tap". The red ale I ordered was average at best.

It wasn't worth arguing with the bar dude as it was obvious he didn't care. We just left them on the counter and moved on.

Hutch aka Mr. Grumpy Pants is beautifully sarcastic (not grumpy), ready for serious talks and good jokes, and of course to serve you a tasty and good quality beers. Place to visit if you can take it (need for adventure and sense of humor are needed). On my 2 visits so far (2019 and 2022) I tasted Stout and IPA , and I recommend both of them. I was taken there by my friend Olivia for the first time and I returned with my husband Stan to have a good quality fun over a tasty glass of beer. Of course I plan to return to Mr. Grumpy Pants and his place ASAP.

This place is awesome!!! A must visit if you come up to Ouray. Mr. Grumpy pants himself serves you and is full of witty, funny (and hardly grumpy) sarcasm. His beer tastes great and the ambiance is fun. Simple brewery with lots of character. AND if your lucky and can do the splits on the bar he'll buy your beer and give you a ride in the bar swing!

Great little pub. Excellent beer. I highly recommend the IPA and the Smoked Brown. Nice to sit by the fire and enjoy the beer. Not your typical brewpub, which is exactly why you should go.
