Fresh strawberries almost always have mold on them, and no one ever at customer service desk to accept a return

I moved from SC to CT 4 months ago and I shopped at the Parris Island commisary once a month or so. I visit the commissary at Groton about the same. The Groton commissary is great except for the deli counter.

The first time I visited, there were two guys behind the coun I moved from SC to CT 4 months ago and I shopped at the Parris Island commisary once a month or so. I visit the commissary at Groton about the same. The Groton commissary is great except for the deli counter.

The first time I visited, there were two guys behind the counter sitting in the back. I stood there looking at them for a good minute and they did nothing. I asked if there was a deli person there because I wasn't sure if they were deli employees or not. Then they asked me what I wanted. They were sluggish and very unengaging but they got me what I needed.

The second visit, same guys moving very slow and acting like they really didn't want to be there. I asked for half a pound of ham but they sliced a full pound. I told them I said half but I took the pound anyway.

Third visit, only one of the guys was there this time but same unengaging attitude. I asked for a half pound of ham and some cheese. He even came back to me and wrote it down to verify the order. (Half a pound for ham) He comes back with a full pound of ham again. This time I told him "no, I asked for half". He said, "I'll fix it". He took out half the ham, re-weighed for a new sticker, and tossed half the ham in the trash can. When he came back I asked him for a quarter pound of liver wurst and he said sure. He sliced a quarter pound but there was more then what he sliced left. Rather then rewrapping what was left, he tossed it in the trash can.

Parris Island is my comparison. Their deli rarely made mistakes because they were engaging. There was one or two time when they made a mistake. But, when they did, they would reprint the correct weight and just give me the extra. Their mindset seemed be, "why toss it, the customer might still use it". After all, they made the mistake. Throwing it in the trash is a certain waste.

Makes me wonder what the financial waste/loss is. I mean, it was $4.50ish in ham and $3.00ish in liverwurst. That's a $7.50 loss in less then 5 minutes.

Just visited the commissary again. Much better service at the deli. Very positive hanges

Very efficient staff. Had most of the stuff I needed. It was a bit more crowded than usual because of the APOCALYPSE!, but other than that, another enjoyable experience.

No complaints about the rest of the store, but what's the point of having the deli sandwich bar if they're always bloody closed? There's no hors posted, so it always seems to be closed when it's moderately busy. One of the guys behind the counter waved me away and said there's some in the premade section, when there wasn't.

Ordered a birthday cake for my son from the bakery 2 weeks in advance. Scheduled for a 10 am pick up on a Sunday we were having his party. Showed up to pick-up about quarter after 10. I was told the cake wasn't ever started because "the lady who decorates the cakes isn't there on the weekends " ! Was told to come back in an hour. So I came back in an hour, cake still wasn't ready. Lady running the bakery discounted the cake, however appreciated, doesn't change the fact if you offer a service you expect people to pay for you should be on time. Will not use bakery services again.

The Commissary is a great place for groceries benefitting those with base privileges. The only downside of the Groton Sub Base location is the second hand delivery of goods after the main location (Norfolk, VA) has it's pick.

Best prices in the area, definitely the best meat prices of any store. If you are eligible but not shopping here you are throwing money away. My only complaint is that they don't carry some of my favorite products.
