Took the family here for a couple hours yesterday. Very nice facility. Lots of room. The ladies liked the wine. The look where he brewed beer was very good as well. We got the charcuterie tray and ate almost all of it.

Our less than pleasant previous experience kept us away from New Kent Winery for years. Yesterday we decided to try again. Fortunately it was not busy and the gentleman behind the bar was friendly and patient as we made our selections- nothing like what we experienced on our first visit so long ago. I enjoyed my flight, and even purchased a bottle to bring home.

I recently visited the New Kent Winery and was absolutely blown away by the stunning palace and exceptional wine offerings! The winery is hands-down the best in the Richmond area. I loved every aspect of my visit, from the beautiful scenery to the top-notch service.

One suggestion I do have is to consider extending the hours of operation, especially on weekends. Closing at 6 pm feels a bit early, even on Sundays. I think staying open until at least 7 or 8 pm, or even later on weekends, would allow more visitors to enjoy the winery's offerings and make the most of their experience.

Overall, I highly recommend New Kent Winery to anyone looking for a fantastic wine experience in the Richmond area. Can't wait to come back!!!

Saw the sign on the side of the road, passed it and we turned around to experience the winery and tasting but when we asked for a little extra jam (even offered to pay) we were told that it was not possible. We purchased a flight of wine, we wanted to pay for a second while eating the brie and baguette and we were told "this is not possible". A glass of water, not available. We had to pay for a bottle, again, that is fine, but a glass of water?. Well, the baguette was cold and old, the brie was fine, but it cool off too quickly because of the weather.

We stumbled across this place back in 2019 and we had to stop here again on our way back from Virginia Beach. This winery is super cute and the staff is really friendly. We picked up 5 bottles of the Sweet Virginia wine as we enjoyed it from our last visit. When we are back in Virginia again we will definitely stop here.

We visited while it was raining and discovered that the indoor seating is a windowless cinder block room in the basement. We didn't try the wine but the beer is mostly awful with some nearing drinkable. We got some (very mediocre) soft pretzels, and the cheese that came with them was pretty inedible. Hard to think someone could try much less than this.

A nice, spacious venue with really good food although a little expensive. There was live music when we were there, of a solo guitarist, so it was relaxing. The wines are OK but did not really enjoy the tasting because the person who did the tasting with us kind of rushed us along really quickly through each taste and did not allow time to stop and savor the wine.

We frequent wineries and breweries for fun. We stopped in on a whim while on the way back home. It was our first time visiting; it was a Tuesday afternoon around 3:30pm (not busy- no one at the bar). We didn’t do any research before hand. We purchased one wine flight and one beer flight (that’s it) totaling $43. Here is the breakdown..
Bad: extremely overpriced. It was mediocre wine and beer so the price, in my opinion, should be about half or a quarter cheaper. I felt a little rushed to make a decision on what I wanted. They didn’t offer a tasting. They only offered a flight, glass, or bottle.
Meh: The staff wasn’t rude like previous reviews but some staff behind the bar gave snooty vibes, or like we were a bother. As stated above, the wine and beer were mediocre. They were not exceptional but with a lower price I would return and have more. If you don’t mind blowing money then this place might be for you since nothing tasted bad.
Good: The place is absolutely beautiful. The building and the scenery are nice and relaxing.
The two star is based on price, offerings, and staff. With better pricing and a more welcoming explanation of choices I would change to a 4 star.
