So, I ordered my tag renewals for all 3 of my vehicles online as normal. I've been doing this for quite a few years now.
I received my tag renewals/ new registration showing what I paid, and my vehicles paid for. I did not receive the new stickers to affix to my tags. They always come with both above listed in the same envelope. Call their office, told my problem. Someone just didn't put the stickers in the envelope. The lady said, you will need to come in, as I don't know what your talking about. So, I went in. Explained to the desk person/lady about this. She said that will be $6.00 more. I already paid for my tags, mail fee, and online fee for doing this online. I told her there must be a mistake. I shouldn't have to pay an extra fee for their mistake. Someone just didn't put all the paperwork in the envelope. She was quiet insistent that it was my fault, and I'd have to pay the extra $6.00 fee. I asked to speak to Kate Terry, the license commissioner. Shortly she came out. Was real nice, I explained it all over to her again. She said I'd have to pay extra for the stickers. Said the state charges them extra for them. Also, she said that they come in 2 seperate mailings. I told her that mine have never came separately, that I have all my old mailings have always received these items together. I do have the envelopes and their contents to show her, for many years I've been doing this. She said that they come separately now !!! I asked her why separately, as this cost taxpayers more money in postage. She said that they are contracting one part out(stickers for tags) to an outside company in Tennessee. !!! I the ask her why, as this is Alabama, and we loose jobs to workers in another state, when we have folks here in Alabama when we have folks here unemployed. I also stated that the person in the office that prints our the renewal receipt does this on a printer, and stuffs the envelopes. Why not have a second printer to print out the stickers, and put both in the same envelope, at the same time.?They do this in office and print both when you go in to purchase tags in the office anyway.setting beside the when you go in to renew tags anyway.
Silence,..... Then I just paid, and left. Sad that all the money wasted , and no clues or accountability.for anything in there. She was at least nice, and all. Just no common sense about any of this. This is our tax dollars at work. It's just the way we do things here now (final comment). If it's broke, fix it. That's why your in an elected Job!!! Not to criticize, but to give constructive criticism.

I have been in the new Hartselle office to renew tags on several occasions. It’s always a pleasant experience. The indoor waiting area is clean and has enough seating for customers. Bathrooms are conveniently located.
Check-in kiosk: English-speaking customers have had no trouble understanding the kiosk instructions when I’m there. I did feel sorry for a Spanish-speaking gentleman because he didn’t understand written English. Thankfully, another customer could translate the instructions for him.
Employees are always professional, courteous, and process a large number of customers in reasonable time.
I much prefer doing business in this Hartselle office, rather than downtown Decatur - where the wait is longer and every customer has to stand (no seating). Also, in Decatur, there is no kiosk check-in and you’ll lose your place in line if you have to go down the hall to the bathroom.

What a PLEASANT experience!!!
Jada was exceptionally helpful!!!
She told me exactly what I needed to do.
I went and did it, returned...
And imagine that...
She had what she needed, in order to do what I needed!!!
I had read some of the reviews on Morgan County DMV, and was expecting the experience to be similar to pulling teeth.
I'm guessing that the "BAD" reviews were from those who are unable to follow instruction.
These ladies have no desire to make you unhappy OR, more importantly, their job harder!!!
If you walk in the door, and need something more than what you have, follow their instruction and be glad that when you return, you won't have to go back.
It's not that difficult people.

Came in and took my number.There is a nice air conditioned waiting area with chairs. It took about 30 minutes but much better than standing in line at the courthouse. Clerk was very cordial. Overall good job.

One star was the only option or I would have given zero. The best these workers are doing is they are actually breathing, nothing much above that. I am severely hearing impaired and wear hearing aids in both ears. (Since childhood) The pandemic and the use of face mask have made life harder for me and many others. The lady that waited on me was extremely rude. I could not understand what she was saying to me because her voice was so soft. I told her my handicap and asked her to speak louder please. No change. I asked if she could lower her mask just long enough for me to read her lips. Emphatic NO! I’m usually tough as nails and don’t get my feelings hurt too easily. I then asked her to write the amount on a piece of paper so I could SEE the correct amount to write the check. She begrudgingly did and just shoved it through her plexiglass hole to me never looking up! I finished my transaction and left. Got to the car and had a good cry for two reasons. I was very mad and also hurt. I’m a firm believer that you reap what you sow. I never lost my cool or was rude to her. She can’t say the same. Terrible satellite office!

Six areas for workers and only 1-2 workers on the license side while the property tax side has four employees reclined back in their chairs yawning from boredom. What a joke. The women on the license side are sinking in their own miserable self pity and make sure you leave miserable too. If they don’t like their job then they need to quit so some friendly people can replace them. Something needs to be done about the poor attitudes and lack of professionalism.

After seeing previous reviews on here, I'm not sure if the reviews really make a difference. I don't think they really care but I'm gonna add one anyway. First...ZERO personality. Not necessarily rude (In my case) but definitely not going to go above and beyond to help. And you definitely get the vibe that it won't take much for the rude attitudes to come out. We were registering 3 vehicles at the same time. 3 separate windows. All 3 cars on the same insurance card. Showed proof of insurance on our phones. 2 vehicles "checked out" just fine. Third vehicle didn't go through when she typed the number. With zero desire to help out, she made us go get the proof of insurance printed out. Brought it back, waited in line again, and she typed in the EXACT SAME POLICY NUMBER and handed the paper back to my wife with the new tag....... Seriously?
