I am a huge fan of this drum maker because of the variety & quality of tone and the richness of sound that comes out. It wasn't my first time playing a handpan--I have messed around with so many bad ones with tinny, shallow tone. I'm not a very skilled musician but the experience of playing a melodic percussive instrument like this opens you up and draws you in to becoming one. I highly recommend playing a Manastone as a transformative daily practice for anxiety and the physical benefits. My favorite scales are the Lyanna and Chinese Big Bear scales. The Lyanna scale is almost a Lydian scale and sounds angelic and eerie; there is so much variety on this scale it blows the mind. The Chinese Big Bear scale is so blissful; playing just single notes slowly induces peace and calm. The Manastone people are very helpful, they have plenty of demo videos, and the virtual drum on their site lets you try each scale before choosing. Plus, it's great to support a local business. For the craftsmanship you're getting, a piece of art essentially, their prices are cheap. You won't get this kind of sound from cheaper factory-made drums stamped out en masse.
