I'm leaving this review to encourage this establishment to do better. With the average rating being 4.5 stars, I assumed differently. Perhaps current staff are needing more support with maintaining the integrity of this local business.

My husband and I stopped by on our way to Kingston. We found a REALLY delicious smelling pineapple for an incredible price, and that was where the virtues about shopping here ended (we don't drink alcohol, so nothing to comment about the selection).

Upon parking our vehicle in the lot, we noticed that the majority of the plants were dry and withering. The meat section did not look clean and the produce section also looked as though all of the fruit and vegetables were dry and/or withering. Essentially, everything looked dead, disheveled, dusty or dirty. I know that this comes down to a few things, and as I've never managed a grocery store, I cannot imagine what it takes to ensure that everything is top tier. However, what took the cake was my interaction with the person at checkout. He was on his phone as we approached, and when we set our intended purchase down, his response was, "Just a minute. I'll be right with you," as he continued doing whatever he wanted with his phone. How politely impolite. We waited for a few minutes and were eventually able to purchase our pineapple. This was without a doubt the best thing about shopping with Local Boys.

I just picked up a few pumpkins here over the weekend while visiting scenic Gig Harbor. Great local finds and good quality produce as well as friendly customer service! Will be back again!!

There are some really good, hand crafted pickles that come out of there. However, they are limited in stock and sell out quickly. We have gone back several times for repurchase but the store has not restocked and there is no information on the artisan for additional purchase. We have found that this seems to be the case for many of the handcrafted wares they have put up for sale this summer of 2024. Kind of a bummer because our little tribe enjoys supporting local business that sell hidden gems

Stopped by and decided to grab a top sirloin for dinner this evening, only to get home and open up a package of brown, sour, rancid, slimy meat. It was nauseating. Took it back and was laughed at saying “That’s not bad. How about a New York, fresh cut this morning?” I said maybe, if I can smell it first. He grabbed it, shoved it at my face all annoyed, and while it was at least red, it too smelled sour. I said no thank you, and looked at the case and this time I noticed half the meat in there was brown. (My husband cooks steak all the time and literally can cook them as good or better than top end steakhouses, I know what a good quality steak should look and smell like) So I asked about a refund, he said no cash refunds. So asked if I could get something else in the store instead. He begrudgingly agreed. I had a hard time even finding produce that wasn’t going bad. So I settled on some popcorn for my kids and fresh raspberries that looked alright. But man, do not get any meat from this place, and if you decide to brave it, smell it first!!

This market has ruined me - I usually snack on candy or ice cream, but I can't stop eating the fruit I get there! It's so good that I'm constantly craving it, and I have to stop myself from having "just one more" when I know I've had enough for the day. If you've tried to eat healthier and it just didn't work when you shopped at the grocery store, try shopping here. The fresh meat, fish, and produce are beyond compare.
Local Boys Taproom @ Purdy is just behind the store, so you can also grab a pint while you're there.

Depending on what you're looking for, this place could be a hit. Sometimes they have the best fruit.
I've never seen any organic produce.
Last year I got some great lettuce starts gor my raised beds.

My husband loves their very comprehensive craft beer selection in the back. They also usually have some pretty unique local jams, syrups, flowers, etc. Always worth a stop in
