Randy and the team are passionate, knowledgeable, and kind. Personally, having 30 years in this hobby, I am truly impressed with their first class service, advice and technical knowledge of fish and tanks. Randy found the perfect 240g tank setup for me and ran the whole process like a CEO.

Highly recommended. We are blessed to have them in New Canaan.

My husband and I stopped at the shop to explore the idea of getting a tank. Randy was so knowledgeable and so patient in answering all of our questions in regards to getting a salt tank vs a fresh water tank and also teaching us about some of the various fish we were looking into purchasing. We ended up leaving the store with our first salt water tank! Since then I have reached out to Randy with any questions and he’s always gotten back to me and even answering my early morning call while we’re were concerned about one of our fish which turned out he was just fine!

I don’t even know where to begin, this is the best shop ever! I have been going here for a couple of months now, I love animals especially fish, this is the place for it every one there is so incredible and awncers all my questions with a bunch of knowledge. The owner is spectacular and helps with my fish tanks, even though I am a young fish owner! I will continue to get my fish, as well as all my sea creatures equipment from here!

The owner behaves unethically in my experience. Their billing processes are disorganized. I wouldn’t recommend leaving your credit card on file with this business. I recently got a bill that was supposedly for service over 2 years prior (it’s extremely hard to tell if an invoice is legitimate when you’re billed 2 years after the service date(s) and their process was never systematic). Instead of the owner taking responsibility for a “software error” and owning the fact that invoicing someone 2 years after service date(s) is terrible business practice, he instead threatened to sue me, said such lawsuit “won’t be good for my credit score” AND threatened my personal reputation as a local business owner (for “not paying my bills” I guess when I questioned the bill/timing?) I have a credit score of 820 as I always pay my bills immediately. As a trusted local business owner myself, I would never even CONSIDER charging someone 2 years later for my own company’s error. Not only would I take personal responsibility, but I’d never put my clients through having to dig through years of records to try and figure out if charges are legitimate from two years prior.

I’ve always wanted a reef tank so recently set one up but had some issues with buying health fish at other stores local to me. I was very happy I went to Live Aquatic in New Canaan. It is further away from me (I live in New Milford) but I found their selection to be great and their fish looked super healthy! I will go out of my way to purchase fish from here going forward. I met Randy the owner who was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his business. I was amazed at the display aquariums too and the unique aquaculture inside of them. It was fascinating and fun to look around. I purchased a royal gramma, a bicolor blenny and a cleaner shrimp…all are doing great!!

It was always my dream to have an fish tank in my office! Working with Randy was wonderful, he helped me pick a perfect tank size for my budget! It wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be. Some people think freshwater tanks are boring, but what Randy put together for me really is a little ecosystem of fish, shrimp, snails and some really great plants; not the least bit boring! Mike is the gentleman who comes to do my tank maintenance, and he is knowledgeable, friendly and full of interesting facts about marine life!

The employees are friendly, very knowledgeable, and have been extremely helpful resources for my hobby. If they don’t have what you are looking for in store, they will order it for you.
