I just bought a used 2020 Honda HRV from Koons Tysons and Chance the salesman was wonderful. He made sure that the car was ready for me to test drive with short notice. My experience started as five stars, but I will explain throughout the review as to why i am giving a 2/5 rating. Hussain, my salesman, was awesome. I called the dealership with a specific vehicle in mind that I saw on their website. Hussain was able to set me an appointment the same day, and had the vehicle ready to go for me upon arrival. He wasted zero time getting me in the truck for a test drive as I was a serious buyer with cash in hand. He didn't try to upsell me to a more expensive truck, which was great. He did try to tack on a detailing package on the final sales price, which is a shady business practice but every single dealership does this, no worry there.

The first star was lost when I encountered the finance manager, he was not in a great mood to begin with. He gave me a finalized invoice which included ~$500 for tags and title (not sales tax). I live out of state and knew the schedule of fees for my state, which out the door should have totalled $120 for a 1/2 ton pickup. I questioned this, and asked for schedule of fees. He told me there is no such schedule, which is a lie, you can find it on any DMV website. I was informed that if I was overcharged I would be issued a refund check. Overall, the interaction with the finance manager left me confused and upset. He was being a straight up "you know what" hole for no reason. I felt it should have been a straight forward process as a cash buyer, he kept saying "this is our policy" and when I asked to to see the written policy, I was met with excuses. If there's a policy, there should be literature explaining the policy available to the customer.

The second star was lost when the refund check for $400+ was supposedly mailed to my home address, which is the only address I provided. I never received the check. I called them two months after the purchase and spoke to a lady named Karen to ask about this refund, to which she replied there must have been an issue with the mail.. understandable. However, when she guaranteed that another check would be mailed out in 2-3 business days, it once again did not show up. I have zero other issues receiving mail or packages at this address and I have lived there for 3 years. I even called the post office to verify they did not have it, and they claimed nothing was in their system in regards to this piece of mail.

I got a call around 3 months after the purchase was made from Hussain, explaining that they found a second key for the vehicle. The vehicle was originally advertised as having two keys, but when I completed the purchase it was explained that there was in fact no second key... I went in person to pick up the key, and the fob battery was dead (not a big deal) I was just happy to have a second key.

Third star was lost during this same visit. I asked about the refund check. I wanted to get one in person since there is such an issue with mailing me one. Well, Karen wasn't here and she is "the only person" who can deal with these checks. It was 3pm on a Tuesday, come on.
I didn't come at 7pm right before closing. I got excuses like "if you would have called ahead of time.." I would like one of your higher ups to call your finance/tag and title department on a personal phone number and try to get through. They literally never answer the phone, no matter if I call at 9am, 2pm, etc. I called so many times.

So as of today, it has been 3 months and 2 weeks since I purchased the vehicle and they are making impossible to get my refund. I don't live nearby, I am a busy person with a life. It cost me roughly $40 in fuel just to drive out here.

I should knock off another star for the maintenance of the vehicle, but they were clear about a 30 day warranty and I didn't notice the issues until 2 months later. The vehicle had new brake pads and rotors installed at the dealer before the sale. However, after having the vehicle serviced by my personal mechanic, I was informed that the brake fluid was old and corroded. You NEVER service brake pads/rotors/any brake component without replacing the brake fluid. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

My wife and I were in the market for a quality used vehicle and saw one to 'investigate' at Koons Toyota Tysons. I reached out to set up an appointment for the next day. We were greeted at the used car center and met with Romer who was my contact for the appointment. He had the car prepped and ready for us inside of the center to review and test drive.

The drive went well and we moved into the negotiation phase. Anyone who has purchased a vehicle of any kind, new or pre-owned, knows that it can be a hassle but after some firm and fair negotiation we were able to complete the deal and make a purchase. My wife and I had only planned on reviewing the car but for us, the process was so straight-forward and non-confrontational (and the state of the vehicle was immaculate for being 9-years-old) that we were sold. We were making a cash purchase and all of the financing/business team working with us were just as professional as Romer and the sales team. All in all, a very good experience for me and my family!

My wife and I had a great experience here. Our salesman Mohammed was super easy to work with and was not pushy or impatient at all. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle we ended up purchasing and he was super friendly. We also had a great experience with Yolanda who handled our financing and paperwork. She was also super friendly/easy to work with and was obviously very experienced.

They were a little busy the day we went (Saturday) so the process did take a long time, but that’s just sort of to be expected at a busy dealership and the staff were more than accommodating with coffee/tea/etc. so it wasn’t too bad.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this place! Just go earlier in the day if possible if you’re concerned about the length of the process.

Tl dr: Get a pre-purchase inspection. Do not trust Toyota certified. The sales manager Sam lied multiple times. They were happy to waste my time.

Sam was deceitful and pretty rude. Was planning on buying a Toyota certified vehicle but took it to a local mechanic just to be sure and they found all sorts of issues. Drivetrain, flooding, body damage, strut corrosion. Luckily didn’t buy it. Sam didn’t even want me to take it to a mechanic. Walked out and he chased me out the door and said fine.

What was most frustrating is when they took my ID for a test drive they never gave it back. I never asked for it back, but I most certainly should not have to ask. They then texted me and told me I had left it there and blamed it on me when I never saw it after they took it. Salesman said to come first thing at 9am the next day. Got there at 9 and received a text 9:04 from the Salesman saying he would be there at 9:30. Thank you for valuing my time. Happily took my money elsewhere.

Very easy to deal with. The sales staff was very helpful. The large indoor showroom was nice. I had a very pleasant experience at Koons Toyota. I highly recommend them for your next vehicle purchase. I was very happy with mine.
