The cabinets look nice and the price was low. The counters look great (the crew that installed the counters did a great job and were friendly).

Most of the complaints below are just that and are for future customers to be aware of. In hindsight, drafting up a contract would've been a good way to prevent some issues but alas we are young, naive, first time homeowners!

For the cabinets and other work, unfortunately, you often get what you pay for. The cabinets are quite cheap and I'm worried about how long they will last. There were several delays due to poor time management by the crew and some inaccurate measurements or understanding of our kitchen layout (they ordered and installed cupboards that didn't fit the space, drawers couldn't open without hitting our dishwasher). Cabinet doors were put on backwards several times (for example, opening away from the stove and microwave -- in other words, away from the workspace). We also found out at the end of the job that handles were apparently not included.

Secondly, the owner, who was nice at first, tried to demand that we pay in full before the work was finished. We refused to pay until the job was done, as is standard practice. Once we were reasonably satisfied, we paid and never heard from them again.

The crew never cleaned up after themselves. I was in my kitchen with a broom every day to clean up after them.

The painting was a bit sloppy, slapped on in large amounts and left to run and drip. I had to go in after them and try to smooth the paint out but some spots dried before I could fix it. They also did not use painters tape so they got paint all over the trim and ceiling. The owner told us that of course they'd come back to touch things up... They never did.

Our dishwasher was apparently not installed properly when they put it back -- the ground wire was not connected to the terminal and the ground terminal screw was obviously left unscrewed from when they removed the dishwasher to work. I can't say that it's due to this, but our dishwasher has died and now needs replacing (again, this could be a coincidence). What I can say is that this was a safety hazard that they left in our kitchen that was due to apathy, laziness, or incompetence.

They left a big hole in the baseboard around our dishwasher, which the guys who were replacing our floors were kind enough to fix for us by cutting and placing some of the extra material that the KNB crew left behind.

The microwave was installed at a slant and we had to fight to get that fixed to an acceptable level...the crew then showed up to re-level the microwave without a level or drill.

Cabinets and doors were installed more than 1/8" from plumb so things looked crooked, but to their credit they were able to mostly fix them all.

The crew never showed up on time and the owner often made excuses. One guy quit in the middle of the job.

For all of these issues, nobody ever apologized, but we were told that we should be grateful that they weren't charging us extra to fix the mistakes. In hindsight, I'd have happily paid more if it meant less hassle!
