Well first off housing.
We lived in a housing area that was to small they moved us to Madigan housing a tree fell on our tiny house then they moved us to brick housing where they turned a one bedroom attached to a 3 bedroom to make 4 . But everything it Raines water backed up in your shower and tub and sewer would run back. SO THEY MOVED Us TO Field Ave where it was a brand new house. All these houses in 2 years. They put this modular home three trailers on top three on bottom together in 3 days made me wonder if the connections were good. We did have a fire in the fuse box first day which made me angry. They put in radon and radiation detectors under the house in the crawl space that should have been a warning. We found out they had burried containers of chemicals 45 years prior under this area. We stayed in that house for 9 years. When we went to move in the drawers had issues the carpets had nails coming through and the walls were cracked. I vedioed everything wrote everything down and trust me 3 pages of stuff. When we went to move out they were not happy I had written it all down and I had a certified copy. They were going to charge me 3000.00. Thank God I had the paperwork of issues. I was charged 5.00 for a knob on the drawer. We kept that house spotless. The pros were it was open concept and nice the cons were it was right next to the on ramp for I5 and we got shot at one night. Thankfully it didn't come through the house. Would I live there again yes but not under that management. They didn't repair things when needed and tried to over charge people for stuff already wrong with the house.

Great place, next to the lake. We stayed at the travel camp on the North side. They need to trim some of their trees so it doesn't scratch people's RV. Asked a couple of times for this to be done and they still didn't do it right and they only did one tree. Also the best lake view spots are only given to three day campers which isn't fair especially if the spot is open. We stayed for one full week. Other then that, the base was nice and we felt safe as we always do at military bases.

Everything in the Army is what you make of it. If you get out and check out the surrounding areas, you'll have a blast. If you're stuck in the barracks all the time, you might miss the opportunity to enjoy it. There are major entertainment venues, casinos, restaurants, outdoor trails, etc. The best part of being at JBLM is the people and friends you'll make life long connections with.

This is a great Army duty station because it is connected to such a large metropolitan area. Summer weather is perfect, but the winters are dark and rainy. The on base services are comparable to other bases of the same size.

It is close to an acre for the dogs to run on for chasing the ball. There are 2 off leash areas. I'm a veteran and have full base access and take advantage of these 2 areas. Both are close to I5 but dogs don't care. Great place for me and the dogs yo exercise
