It was our first time at the theater. Although it is small, it is beautiful inside with comfortable seats and an inexpensive snack bar that serves wine too. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The performance was excellent with very talented singer/actors. We will definitely go back. And an added bonus of going to an afternoon performance was that the theater was only about a mile from one of our favorite places to eat (the Copper Beech Inn)!

Love, Love the Ivoryton Playhouse!
We try to buy the whole season but sometimes life gets in the way so we only saw 2 shows this year. Both were FABULOUS!!
Parking across the street is $5-$10 there is also street parking!
There are NO bad seats in the house!
I have never seen a bad show here!
The staff goes out of their way to accommodate your every need!
If you need a little room on your seating make sure you get an aisle seat for easy in and out.
They have a concession stand for intermission refreshments.
The bathrooms are always clean.
There are several restaurants and shopping in town to make a day of your Essex excursion. We also have the Essex Steam train and Connecticut river museum.
I can’t wait for next years shows!
I think one is a Jimmy Buffet one!

My first time going to the Ivoryton playhouse! Saw the play God bless us everyone. It was so beautiful how they Incorporated 2024 to back when the original story was made! Great actor, singers and comfortable environment! Would highly recommend!

We have a small theater going group. Over the years we have been to Ivoryton Playhouse numerous times and never disappointed. The playhouse is not big which provides an intimate vibe. You feel you are close to the performers. You could feel their passion into bringing each of the characters they were playing. Because its small size, there is no bad seat. You could see clearly from any angle. The staff there are super friendly and willing to help. They always greet you with big smiles.

Great little playhouse! Quaint little town! I’ve seen six plays here over the years. The latest was the jersey boys. It’s a great little playhouse. There’s not a bad seat in the place. The sound was great. The show was great. I definitely recommend it!

Amazing! The play we watched was very good! “Murder for Two” at first I was wondering how they could make a play with only two people, but it was fantastic, hilarious, and engaging. The play house was also set up very nice, the seats were comfortable and slightly far apart because of Covid. And getting the tickets was very easy and the people ushering us in were very nice. Highly recommend coming here to watch a play!

Season tickets 3 yrs running. Love having the same seats, altho I needed to change to the ever-popular Sunday matinee this year which was way harder to find a decent seat . Oh well. I do find lately the shows are hit or miss(had this exact conversation with a couple who saw the same first two shows this season and we both said the same thing) but looking forward to the next two.

This playhouse is a true gem. Mama Mia tonight was fabulous. The songs of Abba has us all up out of our seats clapping and swaying to the music. Great cast and a fabulous show.
