The Certified-Organic apples alone are continually being grown to test hundreds of tasty varietals, many heirloom.

On a visit to the farm (call first to schedule), I even discovered a couple types of crab apples that I found to be quite good .. one was almost overwhelmingly sweet while still retaining a sufficient tartness which I enjoyed greatly!

There was another Apple that is still in lower production, so I won't name it here, that is now my latest favorite.

As the retiring produce manager at Bear Foods Natural Market & Café Crêperie in Chelan, it was my pleasure to be invited along by the new produce manager and his family to "Iron Roots Orchards", which is the 4th generation operation at "Grandpa's Home Place" in Omak (since 1910) with "J & B Orchards, Inc." (USDA / WSDA organic certified producer #2383).

Very old and well established orchard offerings included pears, apples ,cherry's , and assorted berry's , The family is friendly and welcoming making the whole experience worth the travel.
