when I was 18 years old, I needed a large quantity of an item Hindley made, but noone carried in stock. They accommodated me, and I never forgot how nice it is to be able to deal directly with a company.

Today, too manufacturers will only often make products if they have a standing PO with a national retailer, and items get summary cancelled as "irrelevant", due to this vertical channel of marketing.

Right now, I am trying to find a simple hook bolt, it is like an eye bolt, but open on one end. NATIONAL makes them, but discontinued all sizes under 3/8". This was considered a commodity. All I find now are J Bolts.

The age of 18 is long in the rear view mirror, but I was happy to find Hindley still at it!
