Beautifully maintained grounds and buildings. Wonderful to experience the actual home and gain a true gut sense of the colonist’s life, challenges, and daily delights. Docent knew her spiel.
Downstairs and upstairs open to view.
Little pricey for the length of the “tour”
Near other historic homes and town fairground. Lovely area.

I was looking to fill some time with my kid on a Friday in the summer so we checked out the museum. The staff were kind and helpful. We spent most of our time digging for treasures and learning about the SCSU's ongoing excavation on the property. There is plenty of parking and washrooms on site.

I've been to this museum twice, roughly ten years apart. Both times it was awesome. The building is amazing, looking very medieval with its huge stone walls. It is very old, for this country, built 1639/40 a time when the New England colonies were still using pikes, matchlock muskets, armor and still believed in witchcraft.

You get to explore the large house on a self guided tour, looking at various artifacts. The colonial clock and Wheelock musket in the Garret were some of my favorite pieces. I also really liked the write up about the house as you come in.

The staff is very friendly (both visits) and informative about the area. I will definitely return one day.

The place is also gorgeous with a large green around it.
