Great experience, came in 10mins before closing on a Saturday with a broken viola and Nate Sharp repaired it while I waited. I kept him pass closing and he as so curtious and assured me it was OK!

He recommended some new strings, for which will have to be done on my next visit. Thanks again Nate you saved the day for my daughter!

I found an old bass at a pawn shop I wanted to restore. I decided to take it to Hammond Ashley since Bryce was the guy who took care of my bass repair needs back in college, and I also knew the luthier Julian. They were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful from beginning to end, on advice towards the initial purchase of the bass and all throughout the restoration process. I could tell that Julian has a love for all these beautiful old instruments and reliably handled this job with grace. He also charged me exactly what he estimated, which was super appreciated and honestly not expected because of the often unknown nature of these types of jobs. I’d recommend this company to anyone looking for services they offer.

I met Hammond and crew of luthiers at the old shop on Military Road; to repair and set-up my old Kay 3/4. Now, 40 years later I find the new shop in Issaquah is wonderfully packed with Upright Bass options for players of all ages, sizes and styles. If you’re shopping, Rent-to-Own, is a great option. Hammond’s beautiful Big 5-string is still there, and still a wonder.

I'm really impressed with the service I received here. After years (decades) of not playing, my violin was in less than top condition (bridge warped, E string buzzing, etc) so dropped it off for a complete "tune-up." I was given a nice loaner violin, which I enjoyed playing while the work was done. Both the luthier and the person re-hairing my bow were very communicative and explained everything that they recommended having done but totally left it up to me to decide what I wanted. Anyway, I just picked up my violin today, and I don't think it has ever sounded so good! It truly sings now and the tone is smoother than ever. Worth every penny!

Brought a viola back for the buyback program. They were efficient: still had my info after 13 years and I received my check within a couple weeks. I also asked them to look at my violin from 1970 and although they weren't interested in passing it along, Bryce gave me some really thorough and interesting details about it.
