A beautiful state park in Connecticut with a beautiful view of New London. I highly recommend any history enthusiasts visit. I went in late November so the museum was closed but I look forward to coming back here in the summer.

We just stopped by to see the view. It was in October, so the museum was not opened, but the grounds were. The museum is only open between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

We would like to go back.

A historical place of interest indeed. But even if you are not interested in history , it’s a scenic spot with a breathtaking view from the top of the tall Groton monument with 166 steps, standing since 1830. A vast battlefield beside Thames river will also make you fall in love. There’s a museum adjacent to the monument and both are open from Memorial Day through Labor Day (Wed to Sun 9 AM to 5 PM).

A pocket park full of history! If you are an American Revolution history buff then this is a must see here in Connecticut. But, the park is also just as delightful if you're just into nature.

Love this place. So much history here. The tower is bit a climb. It a workout on the steps. 165 steps to the top . But once up there. It breath taking. Coming back down can be tricky or easy. Everything there was worth it.

Went here for the Sky's the Limit 2022 hiking challenge. I expected it to be a quick in and out and moving on to the next one that's close by because I'm not a big history junkie. BUT it was super cool. When we got there the tower was closed, and I thought for the season since it's after labor day, but I still got great picks. Across the street where the rest of it is, is really cool! A secret tunnel to go into to get to the trenches and wind through to get to the bottom. The area where the cannons were originally set up was cool to walk around and the view of the river was beautiful. And when we got back to the tower it was open and we were able to climb to the top. And what a climb, the space was tight and it felt like forever, but a great work out. There a cell phone your you can do, with signs posted everywhere with the number to call and different posts to dial in for the information to be read to you. I expected to be there for half an hour and breeze through, but we were there over an hour. Only reason I have it only 4 ⭐ is because there isn't a parking lot, street parking and it's in a very suburban area and most people were parking on side streets in front of people's houses.

Nice little park that has so much history of the locals in the struggle of gaining freedom from the British Empire. Many familiar names of people who gave the ultimate sacrifice to defend the fort and the area were etched in brass for posterity. The bloody battlefield is now a nice rolling field for picnic and children playground. The museum on site is small but quite adequate in giving a glimpse of the battle and the struggle to defend the fort.

The pencil shape monument has the same number of steps with the casualties of the defending force on that day, when the British were cowardly executed the American soldiers when they overran the fort. If you climbed to the top, you would be rewarded with the view of three states.

Nice maintained fort. A must see in the area.
