Bought a 2.37 pound pork shoulder roast at the Poulsbo Farmer's Market. Planned on cooking it tonight. thawed it, opened the package and found that it was almost half fat. 18oz of pure fat in a very thick cap, and thick ribbons of fat running through the rest. Very disappointed. 20 oz of fatty meat was all that was left after cutting away the fat cap pieces and large embedded chunks of fat. Won't be back.

Great meat. Sad to hear of the passing of Alex. My condolences to his family. We enjoyed the conversations with him at the farmers market. He will be missed.

Updating this to 3 stara for now after talking with the owner. This *is* a small business trying a new model so there are some pains to be had along the way. Apparently the 1 person hired to show up for the markets and do communication with customers so the farmers can farm wasn't very reliable. For now, I am dealing directly with the farmer himself and it is going well enough. Of course, this is just 1 pick up in since our discussion. If we can maintain a level of service over time of the contract I'll adjust this back up to 4 and 5. Might even consider resigning. Keeping money in the community is important. I'd rather pay a farmer than shareholders any day.

Got a "subscription" from this scam artist. They've had nothing but excuses for over 2 months on not delivering their service. They stopped answering messages and they disappeared from the local farmers market for the last 2 weeks. Absolutely do not give these people money.

Good bacon from the Bremerton Farmers Market.
Expensive compared to what; factory farms/slaughterhouses warehouse raised on Murphy 1100s that can process 30,000 hogs a day?
