Communication is still a major issue with this company, but there are also shady things going on in the background.
-Management favors some senior employees over others to the point where those employees are allowed to drink and smoke on the job. Despite bringing these things up to management, very little was done and I was not allowed to take corrective action.
-Quality control is a joke. There is no documentation of anything, no traceability, no adherance to a standard through which communication through documentation could be referenced. Having a long history in quality myself, I was surprised how little it was involved in the process. It's a habit that encourages passing off responsibility to others, which is the worst thing for any sort of quality assurance, and regularly observed.
-SOPs seem to have been written with the current skeleton crew employment in mind, featuring directions beyond the scope of the positions they reference. That on top of duplicate SOPs, references to materials, software and documents not present or so far back it hasn't been seen since 2008, and no GMP document makes me feel like it was a rush job to get something out quickly. Hastily made with no forethought, it's a disaster waiting to happen with SOPs.
-Management has consistently failed to take security into account with the building, and refusing to set up security cameras in key locations. I was also reprimanded multiple times for securing the building at night. My personal opinion is they're hoping someone breaks in to steal things for insurance payouts.
-Fire hazards are consistent throughout the building with no plan to fix or change any of it. No fire extinguisher has been updated in years, fire exit doors are blocked off, and there are no emergency exit directions anywhere in the building.
-Employee retention is some of the worst I've ever seen. Turnover rates are within one to two weeks, if not days, and are almost exclusively due to employees leaving on their own. The handful of people they can hang onto end up being terminated for negligible things.
-Employee harassment and racial prejudice is intolerable and inexcusable at a federal level, but entirely commonplace among senior staff against newer employees.
-I was promised an increase in pay when I was hired on in full, but when the time came I was told I would not be getting the pay increase and was told shortly after I'd be getting a pay decrease and demoted instead. This decrease in pay was unsustainable for the long drive I had to take. I could make more working at a McDonald's or a Sheetz that's much closer to where I live.
Falls Stamping and Newcan is a sinking ship trying desperately to stay afloat. Bug out while you can, look elsewhere for employment.
