The transfer station does take a little patience to learn the routine. My first few times I went upon the scale as if to weigh my trash coming in, walked to the window, and addressed why I was there. Every bit of trash has a designated location, so ask first! The staff are always courteous, but learn the rules first… Thank you

8/6/22 1245pm.
Short skinny bald pale guy with glasses sitting in the weigh station house should be fired.
I had no idea regular vehicles had to go on the scale. He then starts talking down to me as I’m explaining I wasn’t aware. I don’t work there so how would i know. I’ve seen plenty of vehicles driving passed the weigh scale so naturally i did it as well.
I left him talking by himself n just left.
Any boss from Public Works that reads this needs to take action.

Awful experience. The Short balding dude with glasses basically yelled at me for coming to throw away cardboard. After being told they were open until 4:30pm when I called; the rude attendant told me they closed a hour ago and that I needed to leave as he practically slammed the sliding window shut. My 5 year old was in the car and witnessed the exchange. Terrible experience, mediocre attendant.

Courteous staff, the absolute cleanest transfer station in Connecticut (you can tell the staff take pride in keeping it clean), and the hours they are open are perfect. Thank you to the entire Derby Transfer Station staff for doing an outstanding job despite the challenges (i.e., extreme weather, odors, etc.,) that come with this job. Thanks guys.

They are very nice there and I like to look in the rock pile. All the different smashed flower pots. Bricks, pavers, and today a pretty piece of marble.
