I gave this church as well as the Norge location several tries along with my boyfriend at the time. He likes the church although he said he felt judged and rejected at the Norge location. I don’t like or agree with either location for various reasons. They allow their members who are serving on the worship team to wear leggings which I feel is not appropriate for church and is not modest. The lighting is too dark and it is impossible to read your Bible during video playback. They are not being good stewards of their money. They purchased candles and lit them and used them for maybe a couple minutes and then threw them away. The pastor at the Norge location kept switching between praying to God and praying to Jesus, you should be just praying to God. I don’t agree with having female pastors as it also says that in the Bible. I was in complete shock when they had an Easter bunny for Easter. That completely goes against what Easter is all about and certainly confuses or misguides the children. They do have other issues as have been mentioned by others in previous reviews at both locations. I do not attend anymore and would not recommend them. There are other better churches in the area.

Music is so loud it drove me out of the sanctuary. Members are welcoming but they need a process for allowing individuals to remain undisturbed and in quiet contemplation during "The Peace" or greetings of those seated with you. As a first time visitor, the environment overall was very nice. Looking to continue participating with the services as I have heard several glowing reviews of the sermons.

Love this church!!! No judgements, come as you are... White, black, Asian, Spanish, old, young, male or female. Gay, straight, interracial couple or single. This church is the true meaning of "Come as you are". My family and me were made to feel welcomed and loved from the moment we stepped in the church, and I will definitely consider this becoming my home church!

Awesome praise and worship! Very welcoming and loving but not in a fake way. The sermons always leave me feeling refocused, renewed and challenged. This is a bible preaching church, NOT a self help seminar that takes one verse and uses it out of context.

I wanted to like this church.

I went for the first time yesterday morning for a Sunday service.

The music was pretty good, drums, guitar, praise/Contemporary Christian rock style, lots of swaying. Pastor Pam's prayer and praise time was high energy, a steady musical beat going to keep the experience up.

Then, a video testimony of a family that attends, which mentions their willingness to give to their church community out of what God has blessed them with.

Next, Pastor Raphael encouraged giving in the offering by telling the story from 1 Kings 14:8-16 in which the prophet Elijah went to the home of a widow woman and her son, and asked them for water and food; the woman told him she had only enough meal and oil to make a little bread, and then they will die because of the famine and their inability to get more. Elijah, the man of God, tells the widow to make him a cake of bread first and that if she does this, she will not lack grain or oil for the rest of the famine, and she does so. This is the offertory story.

Excited for the sermon to finally start, I watched, slightly disappointed, as a screen was put up for Pastor Mark Morrow to video in from the Norge campus, and deliver an entire sermon on the church giving to itself for unnecessary improvements, and God's lead for them to discontinue their major missions projects and upgrade their own facilities. Hang in there. Pastor Mark led into the sermon saying that Crosswalk is a very generous church, that in the past 5 years they have given over 2.25 million dollars to missions; that the first 10% of their churches' giving goes to missions, and in addition that each year they have chosen a major missions project to support, and that the church supports 46 partner missionaries. Pastor Mark goes on to say that the church has been sacrificing inwardly to give outwardly, and they will now be taking 2020 off from major missions projects to upgrade keyboards, drums, speakers, move the sound system from analog to digital sound, get new LED projectors, take the lights from incandescent to LED, move the baptismal, paint, refresh decorations, change the staging, tweak the HVAC (despite the fact that he acknowleded that they repaired the AC and re-roofed this campus this year). He - remotely, on the perfectly functioning screens - shows an image of what an upgrade might look like, and announces that "Williamsburg residents are very discriminating. They want quality or they're not going to come." He says that bamboo huts might work for their missionary partners, but even the Taco Bell and the Chili's and the Chic-fil-a in Williamsburg got upgrades this year and the church NEEDS this to represent Jesus to the local community. The upgrades God is leading them to do for the church, he says, will be 1.5 million dollars and "at the end of the day we'll all enjoy a much greater experience as we come together to worship Jesus."

The focus of the Sunday morning service was a pitch for money at the sacrifice of missions.

The upgrades are entirely superficial.

The Bible says not to store up treasures on earth, where moths and rust corrupt, but eternal treasures in Heaven. ("Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21)

Further, the church was using Old Testament biblical models of the Tabernacle and the Temple from Exodus, and a premise of faith-based generous and sacrificial giving TO ITSELF. If the church genuinely believes that these absolutely superficial repairs are worth sacrificing missions causes over, this is not my church community.

This sort of thing really needs to be addressed at a church business meeting and not on a Sunday morning when people are coming to hear the word of God. If God wants the church to be nicer, God can lead folks to give to that cause without sacrificing missions.
