It’s hard to rate a golf cart so I’ll break it down as follows. Starting with, it’s worth the cost for a self guided tour of the island. It’s a hella more than what you’d pay for a rental car for two days but if you want to explore the island you gotta pay the price. They require a $60 CASH deposit. If you don’t ever have cash in you like me, conveniently there is an ATM machine less than 20 feet away from the rental office. The price was $60 per hour and one dollar per minute if you go over your two hour allotment. I went over a few minutes, but they did not charge me. You can walk the island if you are a hiker and have good knees. There are lots of heels to climb. The golf cart was in decent condition. It’s easy to drive and navigate on all the roads. Pulling over to Park for a few minutes or even to take a lunch is not a big deal. Your golf cart has a number on it to keep you from jumping on the wrong golf cart when it’s time to takeoff again. There is no concern about someone taking your golf cart.

They don't allow reservations so you must wait in line. We waited about 45 minutes for a 4 seater golf. You must have cash for the deposit even if you have a credit card. There is an ATM close by

If I could leave less than one star I would !.. Karen their employee made this a terrible experience for me and 20 other people.. including children and elderly.. there are two kart rental places in Catalina island .. this is by far the worst ! . after this experience.. we just went back to the ship.. carnival be ware of recommending this place to ur guest! Guest you might be better off staying on the ship! Save your money!

DO NOT RENT HERE. OWNER IS A MEAN OLDER WOMAN AND THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY PARANOID. It was my birthday and I got all our friends together to go to Catalina. I waited an entire hour in line. We needed cash for the golf cart so friends of our got some drinks from the liquor store for after the ride so they could get cash back. We only had one hour. One of the employees accused my friend of having alcohol in her hand UNOPENED and said we couldn't take the cart. She assured them she had not but they said they just didn't believe her. She is a cute blonde girl. I have never seen such ugly accusing women. I can't believe I worked so hard getting everyone there for an evening tour of one of my favorite places in the world to be treated so poorly and on my 38th birthday. Unfortunately everything was closed by the time my long conversation with the ride owner was finished. What a horrible place and disgusting women.

Worst Experience – Rude Staff

We were a group of 10 visiting Catalina Island for a one-day trip and decided to rent golf carts to explore Avalon. Unfortunately, there are only two rental shops on the island, and while this place had 6 and 4-passenger carts, their 3-star rating should’ve been a warning sign.

The staff were shockingly rude, making the entire interaction unpleasant and frustrating. Their dismissive attitude made it clear they didn’t care about providing good customer service. Despite their larger fleet, we couldn’t stomach dealing with them any longer and ended up renting 3 smaller, 4-passenger carts from the other rental shop instead.

Save yourself the headache and avoid this place if possible. Bad service isn’t worth the convenience.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The employees and manager were shockingly rude. They snapped at me, rolled their eyes, and even used profanity about our group.
When I asked to speak with the manager, I thought they might resolve the issue professionally. Instead, the manager outright lied to my face, claiming there were no carts available (despite several sitting right there), and then accused me of being difficult. They actually said, ‘We don’t need your business anyway.’
Save yourself the trouble and take your money to the other rental nearby. This place doesn’t deserve your business.

A must do at Catalina! Great location for rentals. $60/hr, $1 per min after that. Beautiful views. Stopped to take picture many times.

Golf carts themselves are in good shape, spacious, easy to use. However, it was $120 for 2 hours, you can only drive on certain close-by designated roads so don’t expect to be going far. Staff was abrasive and rude in the front desk area but the staff receiving the cart was fine. Also only allow 2 different people to drive which was not noted on the website, and my group all planned on taking turns driving. Would consider using Island Rentals golf cart company next time instead.
