I used Burks for my deer processing last year and plan to do so this year. Friendly, educational, and the service provided was excellent. Meat was packaged and labeled and lasted.

This is an update to the above post. It’s been a few more seasons and I continue to use Burks for all my processing. They continue to amaze me with the quality of the meat processed and the amount they get from my deer. It’s also great to drive up after a full off season and have them remember me. By the time the season is over they even have my name down pat. They process over a thousand deer each season and to remember me is nice. Love the Military discount and the frequent flyer discount for multiple deer processed.
Keep up the great works
Thanks
Roger

I have processed my own deer every year except for this year. With having a young family at home time was not a luxury I had anymore to spend half the day butchering my deer. A coworker of mine told me about Burks farm and I thought I'd try them out. Best decision ever made. I was able to drop my deer and fill out the order form exactly what I wanted. They even took the time to explain to me in detail what cuts were what and what most hunters prefer. Even offered friendly cooking advice on how to prepare it! I received the call to pick it up shortly after and was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the price was and they even gave me a great discount for being a first responder! There was surprisingly much more meat than I expected and it was perfectly packed freezer ready! Tried the sausage they made the following morning and it was delicious. I will never process my own deer again after this. Do yourself a favor and try them out. You won't be disappointed.

Had a deer processed here last year and was pleasantly surprised when I received a call just a couple days later to pick it up. The price was more than fair and when I got home and I weighed The bag it was just over 40 pounds of processed meat, which I thought was great, especially since the deer was neck shot and the neck was pretty much ruined. I found the grind of the burger to be great and the packaging is much better than the tubes. My meat stayed good for almost a year before we finished it off. Im sitting in a tree stand writing this, hoping to get another one to drop off this evening. Gonna try the sausage next time. Overall good people and great prices and product from burks farm.

GET THE SUMMER SAUSAGE!! I can’t stop eating it!! You can get it from mild to wild. Check out the menu when you take your deer there. You won’t regret it!! I had 20 pounds ground strictly for the sausage. I got the jalapeño cheddar mild. It’s got a good bite and very tasty. Pepper jack mild has no kick (for people that want it real mild), but JUST as tasty!! I am literally eating mine every day.

Wonderful service, wonderful family-owned business, and wonderful product! By far, the best cuts and the best tasting meat my family has ever had! We were referred in 2020 and will never look for another! We are over an hour away and, without question, it is worth the drive. Highly recommend without ANY reservation!

In the Williamsberg area this place is about the only game in town for getting deer processed. I harvested one this past season using a shot gun slug. A neck shot did the trick. I contacted burks farm. Polite people welcoming to my business. I got my burger and sausage done and was back to me in a couple days. I had butchered the deer myself, knowing it was clean of all lead fragments. Being as the neck was no good and got tossed out prior to me dropping it off. Every single package of deer meat I've attempted to eat has at least 5-10 lead fragments in it and I've found half of a copper casing in one. The meat I got back isn't even from my deer.... maybe during archery season this place would be ideal. But once general gun comes around I wouldn't even bother. A total waste of money and even worse the meat is basically inedible.

Be very careful when taking your deer here. I suspect the high reviews come from folks unfamiliar with basic food safety and/or had a different experience when purchasing direct. From the looks of the facility, not sure how this place is USDA certified. Multiple deer are stacked on top of each other outside in unrefrigerated, unsanitary conditions. With the hide on, stacked on a huge pile with other dead animals, the meat will not cool fast enough-leading to spoilage or gamey flavor. Facilities are run-down, dirty and disorganized. Animals running around outside with access to the deer awaiting processing, pig feces on the front "dock" where deer are being dropped off, front yard littered with old vehicles and trash, guy running it is rude and speaks down to his customers. Refused to leave my deer, didn't want to run the risk of hard earned meat being ruined by poor temperature control and butchering practices. Would highly discourage using this facility for deer processing.
