I recently visited Boom City Fireworks for the first time where I purchased four fireworks for $5. Boom City is a fantastic place to set off fireworks, regardless of whether you buy them there or elsewhere. They provide a designated area for people to light off fireworks, which is an awesome feature in addition to being able to buy fireworks on-site. It is also a great place to watch a free fireworks show and bring the whole family along. However, I would advise against bringing any pets along with you. It would have been great if I knew about this place earlier!

This place was so much fun! I hope to come back next year. Definitely the swap meet of fireworks. Vendors trying to stop you and sell products. We took the approach of checking everything out first then deciding what we wanted. We also chose to purchase from personalities which were friendly, fun, and helpful rather than pushy. Folks were sampling their purchases in the field and the kids loved it.

Boom City Fireworks - 3 Stars

If you like your fireworks with a side of adrenaline and a dash of danger, then Boom City is your place! Let me start by saying that the folks working here are a whole vibe—and that vibe is somewhere between “I build rockets in my backyard” and “I might actually be a pyromaniac.”

You walk in and immediately feel like you’re about to be cast in a reality show called Fireworks Gone Wild. The staff? Oh, they’re super friendly—maybe a little too friendly. One guy tried to sell me something that sounded more like a military-grade missile than a firework. “You want big boom?” he asked, with a maniacal glint in his eye. “This one shakes the ground!”

Safety precautions? They’re more like suggestions. Hard hats and goggles? Nah, just bring your sunglasses and a prayer. You’re almost certain you’ll either have the best 4th of July ever or need to explain to your neighbors why their lawn is on fire.

In conclusion, the place is a blast (pun intended), but definitely not for the faint of heart or anyone with a strong sense of self-preservation. Three stars because it was both thrilling and terrifying—but hey, at least I left with all my fingers!

Go early before the crowd. Don't spend all your cash in one place. Keep track of what you are buying and use a calculator to add it up. Then offer a cash discount price. I failed to do this and ended up paying $10 over retail. I tried to work with the owner, but they couldn't quite understand what I was complaining about when I thought some fireworks were missing I had intended to purchase. Other reviews on yelp brought me straight to "Up in Smoke". I ended up spending all my money, then some, just to be disappointed when I got home. Shop around. Don't buy all at one place. Put some cash down and make an offer.

The prices are high this year. Only 50% of the supply has arrived due to shipping delays and inventory sitting on ships due to dock workers staying home. Owners have to pay cash 4 months in advance. They drive hundreds of miles to get the collection. At times they need to purchase from 6 different vendors, some withlimits. What you see in my vehicle is $550 worth of fireworks.

It's an experience just to be here, the glorious sulfur smell hits you first. It's fun to go to the demo field and just watch or get ideas. Finally test your haggling skills with the various shops. The more you spend, the better the deals.
