Warning ‼️ messy!

I moved back to Kalama over a year ago and just discovered this place last month, now I’m kicking myself! How did I not know about this place sooner?

Well, I do now. And now this will probably be my favorite summer spot for a lunch break with a view.

The location?
At the beautiful Kalama marina ✅
The convenience?
Adequate parking, short walk, next to a building with cute artisan stores ✅
The food?
So good. Flavor is good. The juiciness of the meat, excellent. The portion sizes are very good considering it’s absolutely restaurant quality.

The menu is less diverse than many food carts, which is generally a drawback. However I believe that this means their food is better just a little, because they spend so much practice on one signature ingredient and keep the dishes fairly simple. Also a huge plus for any preferential eaters, less random extras to remove or change.

The staff is very friendly and respectful. I don’t normally like being called ma’am, but the kind girl who takes the orders is very polite.

A great option if your in the area.

The beef -
was plain pulled roast, natural color and quality A-
The tortilla were unique in color and texture. A+
The long onions on the side were potentially fermented or pickled as far as I could tell. A+
The
Came with many lime and reddish.

Very full tacos!

HOT sauce- 3 pictured. 2 were the same flavor with slightly different heat. Very bbq flavor, as the peppers were grilled a long time. "One salsa as far as I'm concerned, I finished both" The 3rd had a peanut vibe that was interesting. "I finished half as it wasn't my favorite, yet appreciated the experience"
Hot sauce/ salsa as pictured I'll say C+ because I would have appreciated 1 or 2 more additional flavor options.

I was on my way back from Longview and got off the freeway because I saw McMenamins. I didn’t go there, but walked around and found Birrieria
This was an unexpected surprise. 😋
A father & Son Team serving up some of the BEST Birrria Taco’s stuffed with well seasoned beef and all the trimmings you would expect.
I gotta give a shout out to the hot sauce

Amazing Birria Nachos!

These are hands-down some of the best birria nachos I’ve ever had. The chips stayed crispy under all that cheese, and the jalapeños on the side took it to the next level. Great vibes and friendly service too. Definitely coming back!

Family ran business, my first time having their food was at The Patch where they had a little pop up tent. Super friendly family and you can tell they have a passion of what they are serving. Now they have their food truck and the service is just as excellent and their food is still a must have. I personally get their Birria pizza and when I say this pizza has some mass, I mean it. I normally can eat quite a bit but 2 pieces of the pizza is more then plenty. If I could give more then a 5 star review I would. When it comes to Birria this is the #1 place I would recommend

Try the vampire! The corn and crunch really adds to the birria experience. The food was excellent and so was the service. We came when they weren't very busy and she offered to bring our food inside to us so we didn't have to wait out in the cold. Would definitely come back!

Stopped by with my hubby and daughter for a quick bite on our road trip. So yummy! It was cold and windy and we wanted to get inside the public market to get warm and grab a seat to eat. One of the employees offered to bring our food in for us when it was ready. Great staff! Great food. We’ll be back when we head home.

To be fair, the 5 star on the atmosphere was, in part, due to a gorgeous day to sit outside!!
I’ve been a fan of birria for a couple decades now and have had it all over Mexico and the US. I’m gonna go ahead with some big words and say La Vaquita Kalama is one of the absolute best I’ve had anywhere!! I know, big words, but they really have it nailed. So much flavor and great portions, great people and, at least on a sunny day, a great view. We shared a quesabirria and a vampire taco. Both were pretty big and came with a small comsome to dip the goodies into. Oh, pretty sure the pickled onions, carrots and peppers were house made, cause they were best I’d even had. The salsa was chose, the hot option out of mild hot or extra hot, was delicious!! I think it was Chili de Arbol, which is my favorite. Oh, I almost forgot!! We also each got agua frescas, the lime, cucumber and chia seed one was so refreshing and tasty. They’re made fresh daily. This cart is well worth your drive to Kalama. The folks that run it were super friendly, professional and skilled at their craft. I’m excited to get everything they offer over the next couple visits. Oh,,,, maybe bring wet wipes,,, besides being super tasty,, it can get quite messy.
