I wanted to share my recent experience with Better Built Performance, specifically dealing with Alex Jones and his engine builder. To say it was a headache would be an understatement; it involved lost money and broken promises.

I originally brought Alex a long-block to build a forged 6.1 motor for boost running on 93 & E85 with AFR 212 heads. Unfortunately, that's where the troubles began. Initially, Alex seemed like a good friend, but once he was paid, he became impossible to reach. He provided Diamond Pistons and Manley rods, but none of the other components I was billed for. The ARP L19 head studs were missing, and he swapped out my Manton Push rods for cheaper, lower-quality ones. Moreover, the engine builder failed to properly spec each cylinder to seat my pistons, which resulted in a tight fit that ultimately broke the block and shredded my piston into the oil pan.

This mishap nearly ruined my $4500 AFR heads—the only salvageable part of my engine after they were machined and cleaned up. If I could save anyone from this terrible business, I'd advise them to steer clear of Better Built. They took my money and provided subpar work that barely lasted 1500 miles before the engine blew up. They continuously pointed fingers and refused to take responsibility, claiming they’ve never had issues before. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Their business practices are some of the worst I've seen, with zero communication and endless excuses from Alex Jones.

I had a disappointing experience with Better Built Performance. Not only did they deliver a poorly built engine, but I also suspect fraudulent practices were involved. The workmanship was subpar, and the engine failed prematurely. Despite several attempts to resolve the issue, they provided no meaningful support or accountability. I would strongly advise against trusting them with any engine work.

I had BBP build me a 420 stroker for my Trackhawk. I had a great experience throughout the entire process and honestly have no complaints. These guys know what they are doing! DON helped me over the phone and explained things well. Definitely recommend them.

My experience with BBP is a good one. I had a 426 built and put in my car. So far runs awesome. After everything was done Don still answers the phone and any questions I may have. I do recommend them.

I spentOver 47k First time I got the truck was with a broken block and a broken transmission. Second time I got the truck was with a broken transmission And the tune wasn't even complete. And now they don't even answer or response. I believe in karma and it's a motherfuker.And you guys don't have to believe me but if you guys really want to know I got pictures videosEverything even when I went to Virginia. Ill share text messages and everything with Anyone interested.I got receipts of everything. Alex will talk to you in the nicest way that way you give them your business and then when he has the vehicle you won't even answer you

They do not answer their phone or respond to my messages. No ETA on a build that I have paid out of pocket for already and it has been weeks. They took my money and have sketchy business practices. I do not recommend this establishment. Run far away. They have some serious issues at this business. I’ll be contacting my attorney and submit a complaint with the BBB since my bank said they can’t reverse the payment since it was some time ago. Really furious.

I transported my Charger Hellcat down to Better Built Performance to have a badass build done. 426, Thitek heads, 4.5 Whipple, headers, catless mids, exhaust, cam etc ( the list goes on and on) Hats off to Don and Alex and everyone at BBP. My Hellcat is an absolute beast 1000+RWHP. I must have asked Don a million questions while my car was being built and he answered all my questions and concerns without hesitation. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So I will say they were very very slow with getting my 426 to me but that was due to supply chain issues with my heads, but when I called about it they put on brand new ap studs and sent it out within 24hrs and Don has been pretty good with answering questions during the build....I was waiting until i finished putting my engine but so far so good, my mechanic and I are impressed so I will update when everything is done
