This is our 3rd time here. We absolutely love the quiet area, peaceful mornings and yet close to Custer. Guests in the other cabins have been friendly and respectful - very quiet. Chris, owner, was super helpful with text messages and making sure we were all set. Looking forward to coming again. This time of year is great for introverts - no crowds.

This was a last minute trip, and they were very accommodating and reasonable. Beautiful location. Cabins were very clean and beds were comfortable. There was no AC there as we were told but there are fans added to the windows that can blow in or out that help a lot. The only minor issue I had was the fridge was turned too cold and froze some of our fruits and vegetables. I turned it down a little and that helped. This is just a wonderful place and you need to book a room there now. I will add some pictures from our trip .

We stayed for 3 nights in July! Beth was so accommodating because we brought our dog Bella with us. We booked at the last minute. The cabins were close to Custer, Crazy Horse, and Mount Rushmore. We used the kitchen to cook breakfast and grilled dinner. It was very quiet and peaceful at night.

We were very lucky that the temperatures were cool at night because the cabins are not airconditioned. They do have fans that circulate well unless it is really warm.

9 of us stayed here and loved the area, we knew we’d be cramped but the cabin had everything we needed, lots of “contributions” from previous guests like condiments and toiletries. There was a little grocery store in Custer called Lynn’s we shopped at. It got pretty warm and there’s no AC, so it takes a while to cool off. They provide enough fans, and it cools off at night.

We appreciated how dog friendly they were, thank you!

We stayed at elk Haven cabins over labor day weekend 2021. The 5 cabins are tucked nicely away from main roads between two scenic mountain sides. The neighbors around the property are quiet, keep to themselves, and seemed quite friendly with us waving when we drove by. The cabin themselves are great, well insulated and kept up with. The water in the shower and sinks get hot and never ran out between the 4 staying in my cabin. There are campfire pits for each cabin. Firewood is easily found around the property. The town of Custer is about a 5 minute drive and has awesome options for food and drinks with two boutique coffee shops. Overall I highly recommend anyone stay here. This place was a home away from home.

The cabin is located near Custer where we able to use it a “home base” while we spent 3 days riding bikes on the Mickelson Trail! Great location, clean and well stocked cabins. Was perfect for three couples to share. Very large bathroom and bedroom with large loft area with 2 queen beds. We grilled on the desk and enjoyed a fire in the fire pit. We will definitely stay again!
