The food bank is a life saver when the state takes your EBT away even if nothing has changed with your income.

My family attended this church the entire time I was growing up and my parent attended until Covid hit, when they were in their late eighties. My father died last year and no one from the church visited or even check on my mom. My mother participated in preparing meals for families in such situations her whole adult life! I was home to visit recently and asked if she’d like to start going back to church. She said it was too hard to mange since she doesn’t drive. Also she mentioned how hurt she was that no one followed up or seemed to care about her and my father. Very sad. Being alone and feeling isolated seems like an issue one’s church could really help with.

Church is rebuilding its look and rebuilding the congregation. They are very friendly and everyone smiles and says "hi". The pastor is new now, but seems ready to spread the Word and is Bible based. 3 services, one Sun morning, one Sun evening, and one Wed evening. My only complaint is Sun evening is 6pm and we usually eat around then, wish it was 7pm like Wed night is... that is super confusing!
