Terrible Delivery Experience & Customer Service

We spent over $3,000 on a washer and dryer from AJ Madison, and the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Delivery was scheduled for a Monday between 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM — a four-hour window I made arrangements for by sending a colleague to the (vacant) property.

I called that morning and was told the ETA was around 3 PM. Then, at 12:34 PM, I got an automated call saying the delivery would arrive in 20 minutes. I quickly notified my colleague, who was just grabbing lunch and immediately headed back.

At 12:51 PM, the delivery driver called to say he was at the property. I explained that someone was literally on the way and would be there by 1 PM. Sure enough, my colleague arrived at 12:58 — just in time to watch the delivery truck drive away.

I immediately called AJ Madison and begged them to bring the truck back, but they flat-out refused. Instead, they told me they’d “do me a favor” by waiving a $125 redelivery fee — as if this was my fault! Now I’m being told I have to wait another week for delivery.

This entire process has been a disaster. Zero communication, no flexibility, and absolutely no regard for customer experience. I’m furious — and extremely disappointed.

I purchased a Summit refrigerator/freezer, and Bobbi was the salesperson. I mistakenly asked that the door hinges be on the left rather than the right. As a result, when the unit was delivered and installed, it was impossible to open the freezer door. Within an hour of delivery, I called Bobbi to figure out next steps. Bobbi told me that the door couldn't be switched onsite, and I would have to pay a 35% restocking fee if AJ Madison would even allow a return(this is disclosed on the website). I was horrified, and Bobbi showed no empathy or problem solving skills. Her suggestions were "don't use the freezer" and then "buy another one and try to sell the first one". She washed her hands of the sale as soon as it was completed. I then spoke with Stella in Customer Service, and she said that the unit could not be returned since it was already installed. (Yes, AJ Madison had installed it two hours earlier). I decided to call Summit directly. They were wonderful. They sent a technician the following day who switched the door within 20 minutes. That's customer service. I would never buy anything from AJ Madison again, and I should have read through the many negative reviews.

I had a hassle-free and stress-free experience shopping for kitchen appliances with AJ Madison and I attribute this positive experience entirely to working with Bobbi or Roberta Shiers. She’s the first sales agent I’ve actually enjoyed working with. She was attentive, organized, proactive about sending order updates, and even helped me seek out additional savings beyond the mail-in rebates I was eligible for. She walked me through the process of the rebates and even helped beyond the ordering process with confirming serial numbers so that I wouldn’t have issues with processing the rebates. In many ways, Bobbi embodies the quality service that is part of a lost art of customer service. I’m glad I took the time to call the sales line because the personalized service and follow up have been truly helpful. Thank you Bobbi for your being accessible and responsive.

Working with Antonio and his team for more than 11 projects has been one of the easiest to manage. Antonio is knowledgeable about a variety of different products. He's proven to be a reliable go-to whenever I or my clients have questions. It is nice to have a one-stop-shop for so many products. And, the updates to the showroom made it easy for clients to make selections when 7-10 products had to be chosen at one time. Thank you for being a reliable resource and such a wealth of knowledge.

We’ve worked with AJ Madison on 2 home renovations. We were delivered appliances in January 2025, one appliance was missing parts and did not work from the moment it was installed. Instead of replacing the faulty unit , which we reported right away, we’ve been led down a long rabbit hole of service repairs one of which involved waiting 5 weeks for someone to even diagnose a the problem. Now, 2 months later we still do not have the appliance working and AJ Madison refuses to replace with a unit that works because we are out of the designated return period. We have been told that we must continue to wait on repairs. We paid for a brand new working unit and we received the opposite. Extremely disappointing.

I am not exaggerating when I say this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I purchased a Bluestar gas range. Total bill was around $7500 including installation. Their team that brought the stove out somehow managed to install the backsplash backwards and had to be sent out a second time.

The simmer burner (supposed to be able to hold foods at 190F or below) never gets below a pretty healthy boil. Turns out they were supposed to do a calibration of the burners when they installed the stove, which was never done.

After 7 months the stove stopped working - the burners and broiler still work but the oven will not heat. I reached out to AJ Madison who said they would contact Bluestar. It was at this point reading through the receipt from the purchase I discovered that AJ Madison had sold me an insurance policy that I never asked for for $400 and attached it to my bill. 13 days later (!) I got referred to a service company, who told me the first availability was 29 days from then.

I very much wish I had never bought this stove, and even more than that I wish I had not gone through AJ Madison. Avoid like the plague.

The person who helped me was Roberta Shiers, Bobbi. She was extremely professional and very friendly. She was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Unrelated to Bobbi...
The gentleman who delivered our new dryer, did not secure the exhaust hose properly to the back of the machine. The dryer was not getting our clothes dry so I called a service person to come and take a look. He immediately noticed that the hose was not securely attached. The service call and work ended up costing 399.00. I feel we should be reimbursed for this.

Ordered a W/D combo on January 2. Delivery scheduled for January 8. Upon delivery, washer OK but dryer damaged when deliverymen opened the box. Second dryer ordered. Delivery on January 10. Same issue - dryer was damaged when box opened. Both dryers looked like they were crushed on the sides and front.
I hope third dryer arrives in good condition, otherwise I will cancel my order and go elsewhere to purchase a W/D.
