We took a tour of the JQ Dickinson Salt Works and it was a fun tour with tastings of different salts as well as a pairing with a drink. The employees were all nice and welcoming with very informative takes. We enjoyed it and walked away with some products.

I have been coming here to the Malden Salt festival for a few years and I really enjoy the event. It gets better every year and is growing. The place is amazing and is full of history. It has all of the best WV treats and items. There is too many to list but it has jerky, soaps, honey, apparel and of course flavored salts. There are two different tours here during the event. You can see where the original mine was in one tour and see the company store and the property. Its stunning. There is another walking tour where you see the current way they gather salt from the Atlantic ocean underneath the Dickinson family property. Essentially everything is sea salt! A must see when visiting the Charleston area.

We went for the Salt Festival. There is lots of great history and plenty of great local products for sale in their gift shop. The tour was interesting and there were plenty of food and craft vendors and great live music.

We really enjoyed our tour - the guide was informative and did a great job at telling the history and describing the process of salt production. We especially enjoyed the tasting at the end of the tour. We purchased several items for our personal use as well as gifts in the shop.

I went here today to purchase a selection of Appalachian made products for a gift basket. They have a really nice selection and I ended up with flavored salts, caramel, chocolate, hot sauce, chili mix, cranberry sauce snd a really cute card. Huge bonus was the really interesting tour given by Lily. She covered the history of the salt works and then showed the steps in the process today. This is a great little tour for people who love history and for those who like to see behind the scenes.

Beautiful little store with self-produced saltbased goods and also an amazing selection of different goods from the local Appalachian region. We came spontaneously on a road trip through the area and visited the Salt-Works. While the production area was not open for a visit, the store and the very nice staff provided us with some highlights. We got flavored salt, caramel sauce and a cherry barbeque sauce. The selection was very impressive and inspiring. Overall a real gem - if we are back in the area we will for sure stop by again.

One of my favorite places to visit. Such a wonderful collection of local crafts and gifts. On top of that, they sell their hand harvested salts and don't forget about their out of this world Carmel sauces. It is very difficult to decide which you like best, each one is more delicious than the last. By all means, make sure to leave time to take their tour of the saltworks, when in season. Quite a fascinating tour, and free! Consider taking their in depth tour, we'll worth the small fee.
