Upon receiving the advice from a friend to get a FREE farm management plan from the WCD, I did just that, and am quite happy! I had the pleasure of working with Resource Specialist, Katie Pencke, who provided me with a comprehensive plan to manage my manure by creating a winter paddock for my pony and mini donkey. Katie was knowledgeable, resourceful and provided a steady source of encouragement throughout the project. My horses will not have to walk through mud now, and our groundwater is better protected. It was a joy to work with Katie - I now have a better understanding of how fortunate we are to have the Whatcom Conversation District.

My first few contacts with them were introductory through their annual plant sale. Later I was trying to protect some young trees and a Master Gardener suggested I call the conservation district to inquire about tree guards. But more importantly, I have contacted them a few times about problems, questions, or advice and not only were they willing to help me, they were enthusiastic and sincere about it. Whether the front desk or one of the other staff, I have always received generous attention and wonderful service.
