The staff is really kind. The only thing is you go in the front door and then you go to the middle of the building to get anything ordered. I found that kind of interesting but then you go from the middle of the building to the front of the building to pay

As far as I know there is only Woodland and Ace Hardware in town. Woodland is my choice for the simple reason that it is easier to get in and out. They also have better selections of most common things and it's less painful to check out. Today I needed a new front door knob. I bought the last one with the color and features I needed. The folks at Woodland are generally more helpful in my experience but you usually have to ask. They are available but they don't come to you as a rule. Today it took forever to check out. There was only one cashier and a customer had her resolving problems. There were probably 5 of us in line at the apex. No one was asked to open another register. Overall, if they have what I need I'll buy it here before travelling to a big box store and hour away. However sometimes that just can't be avoided.

If you are there in person, they are very helpful. But today I called 3 times and was transferred to the service desk. I waited maybe 3 minutes with silence and no answer. The girl who answered the phone said it is silent until the service desk picks up. I hung up when the timer on my phone was at 5 minutes. The third call I told the girl that I thought 5 minutes was way too long to wait, and thought maybe she would let them know with a loud voice or by walking 20’. Nope! After over 8 minutes of waiting I lost the call.
So 5 stars if you are there. 0 stars if I had that choice for getting any help by phone!

I spoke to two employees and neither seemed to care whether I got what I needed or not. No greeting, no smile, no eye contact, no "Can I help you?" tho neither were serving a customer or doing anything else at the moment. This has almost always been my experience at this store over the last 4 yrs. I don't understand the consistent, overt lack of interest in customers.

This place is great. I came here with a 1" x 3/4" piece of a wooden chair that keeps breaking. I was hoping to get a length of this in hardwood, not pine. They only had pine but John found a small piece of "sticker" wood (scrap) and ripped a piece for me. No charge. I was happy to buy the rest of the stuff I needed here. That's the kind of service that makes you want to come back and spend your money there.

2 Customers were in this store looking for assistance, and from what I've heard from them, they couldn't even get any of the employees to talk to them, aside from telling them to leave for not even doing anything wrong. And I've heard, and witnessed, from several people, that the workers here have no motivation to do anything anymore. Behavior like this out of a store is not only a slap in the face to the customer, it makes the entire town look bad. I just pray that Davis Ace Hardware managed to salvage SOME of this town's dignity from this little disaster by offering these customers the service they needed. I am never setting foot in Woodland again. Take my word for it: If you have hardware needs in Round Valley, don't go to Woodland. Ace is the store for you.
